Jason Momoa In Talks To Star In Upcoming Minecraft Movie Jason Momoa is in final negotiations to star in Warner Bros. live-action Minecraft film, the studio confirmed Tuesday. Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre) will direct the film, which is based upon the 2011 videogame. Momoa also starred with Warner Bros. in Aquaman and Dune. The Hollywood Reporter previously reported the Minecraft news. Warner Bros. revealed the existence of a Minecraft movie eight years ago. The release date of March 4, 2020 was delayed by the pandemic in 2020. This date has yet to be updated. Minecraft is one of most-loved games of all times. Players can explore 3D worlds and create structures, materials, and craft items. The live-action movie will join a number of video game-based movies, such as Uncharted, Sonic the Hedgehog (and its sequel), and 2021's Mortal Kombat. Vu Bui (Mojang Studios' Minecraft developer) is among the film’s producers. Roy Lee, Mary Parent, and Jill Messick are also producing. Pharaoh's blog Jill Messick will also receive a posthumous production credit. The film's executive producers include Cale Boyter, Jon Spaihts and Jon Berg.
