'Minecraft: Education Edition' Launches In Early Access A new version of Minecraft developed for the classroom is now available for early access. Minecraft: Education Edition was released in January with Microsoft's acquisition of MinecraftEdu which is a team that has been working on the game for teachers. The replacement is free this summer until the per-student pricing model will be introduced for the academic year. Microsoft has provided MinecraftEdu users a year of free access to Education Edition as a thank you. It is likely to kick in after the trial expires. The Education Edition of Minecraft has some advantages over the standard version. all about minecraft servers and plugins Right off the bat, up to 30 students can study and work together within the same world without the need to establish a private server through an online service like Minecraft Realms. To create a more controlled experience for students, teachers can create a non-player characters (NPC) and provide them with links to other resources. A chalkboard can be used to give instructions, and students can also use a camera to take photos of their work, resulting in an in-game portfolio. Microsoft claims it is still working on a bunch of other features that the public has asked for. The new interface gives teachers a map with markers for each student and the ability to teleport users (should someone wander off or make a mistake) and a chat window that can be used to handle class-wide and private chats. Minecraft has proven itself to be an effective education tool, teaching the arts, geology, and coding. Now that it has an official version for school its possibilities and its successes are almost certain to grow.
