Well, I don’t know anything about skyrim since I’m absolutely not into RPG, but I know a bit about the nordic myths. I simply looked up ysmir with google and found a german website about the elder scrolls which gave me the feeling that the RPG creators often used names similar to those from the nordic sagas (and others) – maybe they tried to give it a more mythical touch this way? I don’t know – guess it could also be pure coincidence.
