Pop Quiz 5

For this week's pop quiz, your challenge is to decorate ONE of the items below.

hm3-beta

All of the items can be found in Items- Right: Miscellaneous. I'm not really looking for anything other than the item being decorated, so you don't have to do a character to go with the item, just the item will do.

You only get one entry so be creative, and above all else, have fun!

All entries must be in JPG or PNG formĀ (BMPs are too big), posted to a publicly accessible website (likeĀ the HeroMachine forums,ImageShack,Ā PhotoBucket, or whatever);

  • Entries must be made as a comment or comments to this post, containing a link directly to the image and the character name;
  • The image must be new and designed specifically for the Pop Quiz;
  • Please name your filesĀ as [your name]-[character name].[file extension]Ā before you upload it. So DiCicatriz, for instance, would save his ā€œBayou Belleā€ character image asĀ DiCicatriz-BayouBelle.png.
  • Please make the link goĀ directly to the imageĀ (likeĀ this) andĀ not to a hosting jump pageĀ (likeĀ this).Ā See this post on how to get the direct link for most sites.

You have 24 hours. Good luck.

The Big Question ♯6

Ok, carrying on from last week's big question, this week I want to know what you guys think of reboots.

We all know about the big reboots in film (The Amazing Spider-Man, Man Of Steel, Batman Begins, The Incredible Hulk, the forth-coming Fantastic Four reboot etc.) and the ones that DC like to do every other decade (Flash/ Green Lantern in the 50's, Post- Crisis on Infinite Earths retelling/ fiddling with the origins of Superman/ Batman/ Wonder Woman/ Green Lantern/ Hawkman (yes, Hawkman) & the Justice League, the zero issue relaunch of numerous titles after Zero Hour in '94, Elseworlds and of course the New 52, alongside smaller title specific reboots mostly involving the Teen Titans) or Marvel's Ultimates serieses (what's the plural of series?). But, are reboots a good idea, reintroducing characters to people who weren't around the first time, or are they just another way to grab peoples money?

Monday Night Movie Club ♯5

This week it's simple, we review Batman. 2000 words only, so don't waste them all on savaging Batman & Robin. Next week will be Lord Of The Rings.

Character Design Contest ♯28- You Rule

Ok, for this week's character design contest I want you to design the best 'Leader/ Ruler' character you can. I'm not thinking of like a "team leader" I'm thinking "World Leader" (yes with capitals). So, I want Kings, Queens, Emperors, Tyrants, Presidents, Dictators and Religious Rulers or any variation of the above that comes to mind. They can be from the past, the future or the present, from a fantasy realm, a sci-fi realm, a real or fictional country (just so long as they are your own creations and not recognisably a real-life person). Just make them awesome.

No limits on entries this week. Have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. New rule: characters entered for these contests must have been made specifically for these contests (just to make sure no-one accidentally posts something they have entered into another contest previously).

P.s.- I'm giving up on the naming policy because so many people (some of whom I know for a fact know how to do it properly because they've done it before) still don't get it right, and just as long as you give your work a clear name and I can tell who its by from the name in the comments, I'll just rename the file when I save it. HOWEVER, this only applies to these contests, djuby may not have a similar policy for the Pop Quizzes.

The Big Question ♯5

This weeks big question is, are crossovers a good idea?

Rather than give my opinion (I'm going to leave that up to you guys), I thought I'd just do a small (-ish, ok not that small) history lesson of the comic book crossover. If you just want to give an opinion and don't want to read my ramblings on comic book history, I suggest going straight to the comments, because there's rather a lot after the jump. Continue reading

Monday Night Movie Club ♯4

I remembered it this week. Ok, 2000 or less word reviews of the Matrix trilogy if you please (this'll be interesting). Next week it's Batman (I shall take measures to make sure I remember).
