Character Design Challenge #319 – Masterworks – Results

Two Machiners entered this week's CDC and WOW is all I have to say! The challenge was ti recreate a section from a famous Seurat painting,

Christi S. captured theĀ texture and sense of shadow and light of the original,

While HerrD emphasized Seurat's use of pointilism in his entry.

So to the win...

I always said I would never end a CDC in a tie, but this week Ā I cannot determine a winner. Ā Both entries address the challenge beautifully and effectively. In the past, when two pieces are very close, I would break the tie based on which piece I couldĀ see competing for CDC of the Year, and this week I think both are worthy.

So for the first, and possibly the last time we have a draw. Beautiful work by tiy both, and thanks for entering.

Character Design Challenge #318 – Classic With A Twist – Results

The winner of this week's CDC is James Knight.

The approach taken to the body was restrained and thoughtful with just enough detail to be effective, while the facial expression is brilliantly composed.

Please join me in congratulating James on the win.

Well done you!

Character Design Challenge #316 – Strike A Pose – Results!

Hey ā€˜machiners!

First, thanks for letting me judge this week’s CDC.Ā  It was my suggestion to have a contest on action poses to challenge you on focusing on the foundation of your pics.Ā  I read a couple of statements on that it was more of a challenge than first thought.Ā  Hopefully we can revisit this subject in future CDC’s with a pose theme like dance or maybe even martial arts.Ā  Hmmmmmm…..

Some interesting entries this week with a wide variety of poses.Ā  Now as I’m looking for the strongest pose that was entered, I am looking at anatomy, completion of body, centered weight of form and just does it makes sense what is going on without a description.Ā  Applying all that, I have come up with my finalist….

Superman punch by kellkin

Great fluid pose that grabbed me right away.Ā  Anatomy can be tightened up with size of hands and head adjustment, but the weight of form shows the subject going for the knock out punch to finish the fight.

Congrats kellkin!!

Keep on ā€˜machining, everyone!

Cheers!
