A few years ago I designed a superhero team of balding men named Rogaine, Skullet and Cue Ball called The Dome Patrol. (posted above) What these characters have in common is that their heads can all be found in Items – Heads – Winners. (posted below)
Your challenge this week is to create an original superhero using one of these heads
You may enter up to three times, and…
The prizes are back! So this week’s winner will receive an HM3 rendering of their winning character by yours truly!
Rules for posts, contests, and challenges: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. Please keep all submissions PG13: full or partial nudity is prohibited. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warning. Only post characters that have been created solely using Hero Machine, and that you know for certain have never been entered in a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.
All entries must be in JPG or PNG form (BMPs are too big), posted to a publicly accessible website (like the HeroMachine :,ImageShack, Deviant Art or whatever);Do not use Photobucket.
- Entries must be made as a comment or comments to this post, containing a link directly to the image and the character name;
- No copyrighted characters please – they will be deleted.
- Please name your filesas [your name]-[character name].[file extension] before you upload it. So DiCicatriz, for instance, would save his “Bayou Belle” character image as DiCicatriz-BayouBelle.png.
Please make the link go directly to the image (like this) and not to a hosting jump page (like this).
This contest will close at 9am Eastern on Sunday, May 5th.

Origin: Hit by a mysterious beam he gained the ability to change his size and he became a hero.
Here is my first ever CDC entry so fingers crossed it does well. Here is my young hero who I have designed and named Sparrow.

Hey, djuby, does the Winner head have to be untouched? As in, can you add helmets, masks, or different sets of hair to the head?
sure
TBH, I don’t know if this is elligable or not, considering it isn’t really a superhero (or even humanoid) more of a supervillain, but I used one of the winners-heads, so why not give it a go right?

And a truly evil supervillain, at that.
Well, I could hardly pass this on up, now, could I?
Here’s my character, the Toolsmith (technically Toolsmith II)
https://eldacur.com/~brons/Comics/Brons-Toolsmith.png
He’s the master of gadgets, high tech, super-weapons and the like. With his wife, the Bookkeeper, he is a member of the Household, a team of meta-humans, martial artists, magical creatures and robots whose primary avocation is equipping and training heroes and villains for a price, but who when the threats come too near, heroically, defend their city.
The Household’s operations team has shown up in previous contests, but not the Toolsmith.
And, OK, he’s a Mary Sue.
I’m not sure that this one qualifies. He’s never appeared in a contest but he was a part of one of the creator posters, If I recall correctly. He’s also more of a sidekick, being a genie in a bottle whose actions are controlled by the owner of the bottle. Is Thunderbolt a superhero? Or just Johnny Thunder? If Thunderbolt would count, then Jimmi, the Jinni should, but if not…

As with several of my Hero Machine Avatars and Mary Sues, his head has been modified with masked bits of another winner head to make him clean-shaven as they were created while I was recovering for losing my beard to alopecia.
I’ve created a couple dozen characters based on this same head—what’s the point of getting onto the winner’s page if you can’t, right? Given that several of them fit well into my superworld, this suggested to me a storyline involving the Multiverse, the story of the “The Man who Created Himself”, the handsome and clever, well… me.

In that guise, he doesn’t look like much of a superhero. Heck, you could meet him on the street in my home town, but, in secret he has the superpower of creating variants of himself in many other universes.
The image of him above is the one I’m entering, but his claim to superherohood is based upon the story line of this comic: Strange Worlds #1, featuring “The Man Who Created Himself”:

For the record, the characters shown on the cover going around clockwise from our hero in the foreground are: The Thaumaturgical Engineer, with his famous jet pack; Jimmy Pan, who will never grow up; Evil Jim, the demon; the Toolsmith (entered on his own); Expendable Brons; Cowboy Jim; and The Griffin, Tai Chi- and Lightsaber-wielding superhero (whom I use as my gravatar for posting here). The rest of his avatars are too transparent to show up in the background.
Yes, indeed
