Rules for posts, contests, and challenges: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. Please keep all submissions PG13: full or partial nudity is prohibited. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warning. Only post characters that have been created solely using Hero Machine, and that you know for certain have never been entered in a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

All entries must be in JPG or PNG form (BMPs are too big), posted to a publicly accessible website (like the HeroMachine :,ImageShack, Deviant Art or whatever);Do not use Photobucket.

  • Entries must be made as a comment or comments to this post, containing a link directly to the image and the character name;
  • No copyrighted characters please – they will be deleted.
  • Please name your filesas [your name]-[character name].[file extension] before you upload it. So DiCicatriz, for instance, would save his “Bayou Belle” character image as DiCicatriz-BayouBelle.png.

Please make the link go directly to the image (like this) and not to a hosting jump page (like this).

This contest will close at 9am Eastern on Sunday, April 22nd.

    Would it be permissible to compose a character based on a formative aspect of the Chinese Zodiac’s animal sign development, rather than only one of the twelve animals? Inspiration has hit me in perhaps the wrong place again.

    Mira Swift is a Chinese-American bounty hunter that goes by the alias “Tigress”. Born and raised in Chinatown in New York City, she was a police officer for 10 years. She became unhappy with the department’s sluggish process in cleaning up the city. Possessing great martial art talent and a deadly aim, she found that she was better suited for vigilante work. On the Chinese New Year she took on the name Tigress, after the animal the year was dedicated too, and had the symbol of the tiger tattooed onto her lower back. Now she stalks NYC’s most wanted at night.

    Liang Ju and Liang Zhi; the Ox and the Serpent, soldier and spy, brother and sister. They lived in medieval times and were investigating a sorcerer for the Emperor under the guise of his guests. Unbeknownst to them, the sorcerer gave them an elixir that manifested animal-like characteristics in them. Ju became massively strong and durable, Zhi fast and sinuous. When confronted, the sorcerer tried to banish them with a spell. It backfired, and the siblings found themselves flung through time into modern day. After a difficult adjustment, they search for the sorcerer in the present and the cult that grew around him over the centuries using the powers he bestowed on them and their combined ancient and modern technology.
