Ok guys, for this weeks contest I want you to redesign or redo one of your old characters. Everyone has characters that they've done in the past and everyone should have improved since they did those characters, so let's see how much you have improved. Please bear in mind though, that to qualify you must include the original picture of the character you are redesigning. Oh, and obviously, only redesign your own character. It should be blatantly obvious, but just so there's absolutely no confusion.
As per usual, no limits on the number of entries and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.
Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

My entry is called the “Hell Knight” The old version was done by me awhile back last year and features the Hell Knight in medieval times when it first came into being. It is an immortal hell entity that possessed the body of a human to consume the life energy of anyone in it’s path. In the new version our Hell Knight has been around for thousands of years and is now in future times. The Hell Knight travels around the galaxy now seeking out life energy on other planets to consume. The Hell Knight has kept parts of it’s original medieval armor and incorporated it into it’s current future armor. The Hell Knight also has the ability to channel consumed energy and manifest it in evil dark magic. Because it is now thousands of years old it has become a master in multiple forms of fighting as well as having a level of knowledge far greater than any person alive.

The first picture I ever drew of him was in pencil somewhere between 1962 and 1964, probably ’62. His powers combined those of Dr. Mid-Nite and Dr. Light (as well as Drury Moroz & Ron Foss’s “Eclipse”, see http://bit.ly/1ngshSr), and his look borrowed partially from the Golden Age Daredevil, and partially the photography of Astrid Kirchherr, who used dramatic side lighting to create half-shadow portraits, most famously on the cover of “With/Meet The Beatles”. I have created Twilight multiple times in HeroMachine versions 1, 2, 2.5 and 3, as well as Hero O’Matic. Here’s an image that brings several of those together:

It includes a headshot, which shows why this is the first computer-drawn version that I am really happy with. Instead of a straight centerline, I’ve finally managed to get the Astrid Kirchherr-inspired side-shading effect I drew as a kid.
Twilight was one of, if not the first superhero character I ever created. He could project both light and dark. His light could illuminate, blind/dazzle, do damage like a laser, and undo some forms of invisibility. He could also project a beam of darkness, shroud an area in darkness, and eventually teleport from one area of complete darkness to another.

Just a note, I was going to do a VERY old character (*cough* ironskull *cough*) but I did them literally the day before I noticed the contest, although the redesign I did was an alternate universe version that ties in with HighDemon. I will make a 2016 version of Cyrus possibly.

Pulling up an old character I made for one of my first contests.
Original Bio: Skye Thomas was not born with powers. One day while playing outside with her younger sister, the two girls were caught in a radioactive beam from the gun of Gamma Man, a local supervillain. Her sister was killed instantly, but six-year-old Skye was thrown into a snow bank, where the radioactive particles mutated her. Her skin pale and eyes changed to an icy blue, but most of all, it gave her power over the cold. Now, eleven years later, Skye uses her powers to protect the children of the city from harm, whether extraordinary or everyday. She is able to shoot blasts of cold, call storms, and create ice projectiles, such as her Frost Knives. Calling herself Polara, she will make sure no children suffer while she has the power to protect them.

This new look is an older Skye, a veteran hero with a proper costume and full mastery over her powers.
