OCD (Open Critique Day) #33

Well, I'm back and fully recovered from my surgery! Thanks for all the well-wishes! Sorry this is late, though; I slept in too late.

How this goes:  You post a work of yours, finished or WIP, and then others give you critiques on your work. I do not mind if you post non-HM pictures or piece of writing. Just make sure that you only post pictures that are your own design and not any that are copyrighted or based off of copyrighted characters.

Also, if you post a work, it is highly recommended that you also give someone else a critique.

Even this is called Open Critique Day, I allow (even welcome!) for you guys to post and discuss on this for the weekend until 11:59 pm Sunday.

    @Nug: Whoa, that looks really good so far! My only gripe is the three circles in the corner; what are those for?

  2. Nug says:

    @Linea24
    4 of ’em actually. (top one is invisible) I use those for quick “copy paint”. It helps with the masking.

    I got a wip…

    On the whole I really like it. Great job of masking bits into a solid coherent whole. The one thing that’s a little stiff and awkward is the hole that the nozzle comes out of. The perspective seems off.

    This is really good though.

    I find the camo pattern very distracting as it kills any detail.

    @Brons
    🙂 Yeah me too. It appears to have a tilt that just wouldn’t be in this perspective. As it is made that way, the only thing I can do is throw more masking at it…
    As i’m typing this I am also fixing it in my head. 😛
    It may also allow me to move the rocket up on his back more which I kinda wanted to. Good eye mate!

    @Nug: I assume you’re planning on shading the further hand and control. Good start. What I’m wondering is whether you’ve planned on background story elements like a cordon as a safety perimeter or someone holding up a ‘thank you for saving us’ sign or a policeman trying to get through . . . (you know if it were me I’d have something charred behind him, like this is where he’s been taking off from)

    @dready: Wyvern–arrows flying at it or burnt village behind him? or at least a broken tree? Not sure I get the five nights’ reference. I agree with djuby’s take on the camo pattern. Can be doctored by ‘sharpening’ outlines between parts and changing size or orientation of individually masked bits of camo pattern.

    Linea: Are you back in good purring order yet?

    Well, wyvern is actually a superhero, and FNAD is the office, the torch and the door.

    That’s a good pose. Your camo does take away from it though. I like the camo, but keep whats black on your bot, black. Some shading or covering up with solid color insignias should add to it nicely.

  9. Nug says:

    @Herr D
    Yeah shading is gonna have to be a must. I’m picturing 5 or 6 camera flashes. A sign or two could also be cool! I picture him taking off from some kind of launch pad near the edge of a cliff… or just out in the middle of a field.

    I’m liking the ideas coming out of this post. Thanks Linea!

    Here we are; the new stinger (I basically changed the wasp.)
