Of course, I am making a habit of having costume design contests on an annual basis, so this is going to be this years. However, to make it a bit different, I would like to ask that you only focus on the costume, at the expense of everything else. Some slight posing is allowed if it is to show of different aspects of the costume, but other than that I only want face-forward standard posing, and hair is only allowed if the costume includes so sort of fascinator or other hair accessory. If you want to do shading on the costume, that's fine, but other than that I want the body to be a completely blank slate, like a mannequin, it can't even have a face. I'm only going to be looking at the costume, so I think it's only fair that you guys do too.
As per usual, no limits on entries and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.
Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.
Does costume count as all clothing? Like, you said no face, does that mean we can have a helmet? Are we allowed to show no skin at all?
May be a dumb question, but I’m going to ask anyway. I have a concept already made that fits well with this, but he has two weapons on him (Club and taser of sorts) that are apart of his main form of attack. Like Deadpool wouldn’t look right right without his swords in the back. Is it okay if my character is wielding weapons?
@Ubiquitous Pixel- Unless they are part of the costume, no.
Coincidently I was playing around with some costuming concepts just recently.
This one is Typhoid Mary
And her sister Penny Dreadful (although I used a version of this for this weekend’s Pop Quiz so that may disqualify this entry for this contest)
Fenikkusu, the Phoenix of Redemption
Question: How about masks with some kind of facial features – if they’re part of the costume? And how about hair under a hoodie? Just asking ’cause I got some characters where I’d have to remove parts for this content if the above things aren’t allowed… 😉
@madjack- masks yes, hair under hoodie no.
Well, let’s go then, shall we?
Black Mantis (the scythes are part of his costume- without them the rest wouldn’t work)
Deathwish (normally he would hold two big pistols in his hands, but JR said no guns)
Silver Dragon (would hold “electric charged katanas”)
And a few WIP’s (name suggestions welcome):
Unnamed 03 (that’s a mask – not his face)
Okay here’s mine.
Seiun, the Star-Gazer
Suchiru, The Gentleman
No, I’m new here and I don’t have a photobucket or whatever, and sushicat is my website.
If the background is not acceptable, I’ll take it out, since it doesn’t have a mannequin, figured I’d try to “hang” it waiting for the person to put it on.
Sentoki, the Brawler
This is “Dragonburn” just your basic cybernetic flight suit with a helmet mounted flamethrower.
Futuristic Baseball Player
Civil War General
Buki, the Ravager
All weapons are included in the costume, as they are features of the mech suit.
Hopefully I’m posting this right…
His left hand is his actual hand.
The Aureate Royal
Okay, maybe this one is the right link.
@MadJack: how about something like “Moloch” (or spelling variants) for Unnamed #7? Because it’s spiny like that “Moloch horridus” lizard (also known as a “thorny dragon” or a “thorny devil” in English) + the costume’s red tones convey associations with fire (and blood), similar to what the original Moloch (that Near-Eastern god to which human (baby) immolation sacrifices were made) was all about. Or perhaps just “Thorny Devil” (but “Moloch” sounds a bit more majestically occult 😉 )
how do i submit it
@teir- Ok, first upload your image to an image hosting website (e.g. deviantart) then open the image in a new tab. Copy the url from the top bar of that page and paste it into the reply box here. Simple.
Kiri, the Shadow
Here’s a few.
1) BATTLESUIT – In Red or Gold. I couldn’t decide which one I liked better so I’m posting both if that’s ok…
2) NEXUS – My resident reality altering sorcerer. Flesh colored mannequin to better show how the gaps in the costume actually look. The tattoos on his arm I consider to be part of his overall look so I hope those are ok…
Here is the Ancient armor, a mystical suit of armor.
Tactical Gauntlet Field Jacket (“TacJac”)
Tactical Gauntlet Field Jacket (“TacJac”) final one the first one was not finished…
This is inspired by the “knock on wood” video’s outfit-I’ve made changes so that it was not a direct copy!
First- Warrior’s Dress Uniform (personalized to Aura and her fire specialty)
Second- Ninja (undercover version)
Third- Ninja (warrior version)
another version of the “TacJac” I just could’nt stop tweaking this thing I think I’m finished now…
Ok guys, this weeks contest is now closed. The poll will be up shortly.
