Weilyn – HeroMachine remembers one of its BEST!!

Today I write to honor the passing  of a member of the HeroMachine Moderation staff, Weilyn. I was saddened today to learn of her passing by a close friend of hers, our very own Stulte who created the image above in memorial to her! When HammerKnight due to health reasons had to step down as moderator for a time leaving the running of this place solely on my shoulders Weilyn was the first person I reached out to and invited to join the Moderation Team here at HeroMachine because I saw how helpful and friendly she was and KNEW she would be a wonderful moderator.

I remember how honored and excited she was to be a moderator and how eager she was to be able to give back to our community and help you all with all things HeroMachine! We private messages back and forth for several days as she grilled me on the things she needed to know to be an effective moderator and on how to posts to the blog and together with Her, Jr, and djuby I felt we had one of the finest group of Mods anywhere on the net!

I don't know any details of her passing but what I can say is the Weilyn will be missed dearly by many here on this site, and to her friends and family that many be reading this you have my most heart felt condolences! Rest In Peace My Friend!

( Below after the Jump you will find a few of Weilyn's HeroMachine Creations that I have selected as well as a Link to her Gallery on the forum )

EDIT: Added more of Weilyn's art below as suggested by Jr.

As I have said when Stulte told me of what happened, this is a great loss for the community. Weilyn was always one of the forum members I admired the most, I hugely enjoyed my interactions with her, whether it was just comment conversations on our respective forum threads or our work together as moderators, she was always great to talk to. I remember one morning I woke up to a long rambling comment from her on my thread talking about the use of colour on one of my projects at the time and how it had something called massverkans lag (or mass effect), and she tried to explain it in a sort of round about way, with an anecdote at the end. Turns out she was drunk, but it gave me a good laugh and still makes me smile, stop and read it whenever I go back through old comments.
And as for her art work, I don’t think Kaldath included all of her best here. I would highly encourage people to check out her thread, specifically her comic about searching for the whale that stole her bike as a child (yes, seriously), her series of steampunk robots and her takes on various nordic mythical creatures. At least we can take some comfort in the fact that Stulte is continuing her great work.
So rest in peace friend, you were a fantastic member of this wonderful community and we will miss you. I just wish we could have known you more.

I needed her playfulness in a time when things looked rather bleak. I wish I could have done the same for her at the right time.

I cannot express the words except that I hope this is not true. Weilyn was an inspiration. Her characters were unique. Her designs told stories. Her story-telling was delightful. She was witty and cheerful. I could go on.

RIP and condolences to your loved ones.

Didn’t knew her at all, so this is probably stupid, but… Well, I’m sad. To see a machinist go, for the friends and family she leaves behind… Life sucks sometimes.

  25. Maaz says:

    Oh man. No way.
I never really KNEW knew her, but she commented a few times on my thread, and well, she seemed to me to be a pretty nice person. I’ve recently started machining again, and so I just found out… rest in peace, Weilyn.
