Neat, thanks!
MOAR HAIR. WOOOOOO.
These are great!
I’m wondering if others are having the same glitches as me. Since the new items have been steadily coming over the last week and having to clear my cache every time, little annoying things are happening. I have Explorer and Chrome and have been switching between the two. With Explorer, I can update very easily but now the window which asks to allow more heromachine to use memory keeps popping up and freezing on the screen. I can’t click it or anything because it is frozen. Is this a FLASH thing where I need to update? I do update the file every time it prompts me to.
With Chrome on the last Hair items, the fire, serpentine and dreads are there but not the 3 hairstyles or the 2 needle hairs. I cleared my cache again and even restarted my computer. Nothing changed.
I’m loving all these new items, but am I missing something to update? I’ve never had any of these things happen before.
Let me know if you ‘machiners are encountering anything like this.
Cheers!
Same issue. Also having trouble saving in widescreen mode as a clickable add appears in the upper right corner of the image.
I’ve been having problems with losing characters when emptying the cache and I’ve looked on here for a solution but couldn’t find one. Anyone have any recommendations on what to do? These new items won’t show up for me right now and I’m scared to empty my cache because this would be the third time I’ve had to re-work on 70 plus characters.
@ BrobaChett – There is no solution for losing your files when you clear your cache. When I first started here, Flash didn’t do that. The powers that be at Flash then did some kind of update and, SHAZAM we pretty much all lost our files when we updated. This is no fault of Jeff’s, we just didn’t know that an update would do that. I’m sure Jeff could explain better.
What you need to practise and start doing from now on is SAVE A TEXT FILE OF YOUR CHARACTER! I have done this for every character that I have done since then and have had not lost anything! Very easy to do. Select the SAVE icon and then TEXT. right click on text and SELECT ALL. Then COPY. Open NOTEPAD in your program files and PASTE text. Then SAVE. Create a folder on your desktop and title it “Heromachine files never to be lost again” Save all your wonderful creations to that location. Like I said, you should never have this problem again and you will have back-ups to all your characters.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
@djuby – Jeff spoke about the ads being seen in the widescreen format somewhere on the blog a week ago. He has no solution for it at this time. JR19759 has worked a go around by saving pieces of a pic and putting them together externally. Maybe he can share his process…..
Thanks ams…must have missed that.
I’ve tried doing that before but it never worked so I had to work off of the saved pictures. I just tried it again and it actually worked. Thanks for the heads up, though.
From what you’re saying, it sounds like he exports the objects as transparent PNG’s, opens the base/background in a separate program (e.g., paint),then pastes the other objects onto it one at a time. At least, that’s how I do it.
that’s how I do it.
no problem so far
Maybe I should stop updating so often. 🙂 It will slow down on my end a little once I get through my backlog.
Fun Fact: Jeff set it up so updated item sets are uploaded automatically on a schedule. Once I finish drawing a piece I can import it into Flash, then publish the update and Jeff’s ftp program uploads it at the next scheduled time. This means a lot faster turnover rate for anything I create. Although some items might be up for a day or two before I get to announcing them.
Thanks for the items, that’s great! 😀
Thanks to Jeff and dblade for all the great new items!
Look for the Flash .sol file. Save it outside of its native directory. When you want to restore, copy it back. Otherwise, saving as text is the best way to go.
@dblade – Don’t you dare stop updating new items! LOL. My rant wasn’t directed at the new item process, but questions on how the program updates. I’m not a very techie guy and hyperventilate when new things happen on my computer that didn’t happen yesterday. I guess the frustration came yesterday when I wanted to use some of your new items on a character I am creating and couldn’t. Explorer freezes with the “Allow more memory” window, and half the items showed up in Chrome. I love that fact that more items are being added to the program. It’s amazing how a new hair piece can inspire a whole new character.
Thanks for your work and Cheers!
I’m going to go make some more combs now–great work.
Fixed my Explorer flash memory problem. Actually it was pretty easy. I googled Adobe flash player settings and found the spot to adjust the memory without it freezing the program. Now I’m back to using Explorer. Half the hair items have yet to appear on Chrome. Just FYI….
Thanks for the updates, AMS. Glad it’s working out for you, mostly.
In terms of saving in widescreen, I tested it earlier and if I use the Export option, choosing the Widescreen format, the ad doesn’t export into the static image.
If you’re doing a screen capture manually, then yes, the ad will still be there as it’s on the screen, just like your browser tool bars and such. There’s no workaround for that in the program at this time, I can’t figure out how to tell a Flash movie to tell the hosting HTML to hide an element.
Man, i wanted the star wars hair a year ago! Nice!
