I just wanted to give y'all a heads-up that I got laid off from my regular job today. On the one hand, obviously that sucks. But on the other hand, I am leaning pretty seriously towards making HeroMachine my full-time obsession once again. Ad revenue has gone way up over the last few months, to the point that it's a viable option.
I haven't decided for sure yet. But if that's the way I go, that means hopefully more app improvements like finally finishing out all the left-right item sets and such.
Thanks again to all of you for your long-time and continued support of me and the site. I'll keep you posted about how things go, any decisions made, etc.
Ouch, sorry to hear that. On the flip side, it’s good to hear that HeroMachine traffic is flowing.
That sucks. Sorry to hear that Jeff. But I’m sure I speak for the heromachine community when I say we’d love to have you around here more often, like the old days. Silver linings and all that.
Well that does suck. Good luck which ever way you have to go. π
Good luck. To both of us. (Still unemployed but chasing leads.) Glad to have you.
I’ve been there, so I know how that feels. If there is anything we can do as a community, let us know.
Best wishes to you. i’m glad to hear HM is providing for you though.
My own job having ended, not too long ago, I understand completely. But it *is* good to have you back.
I hope things work out, and swiftly.
Sorry to hear about the job Jeff. But I hope things end up going well for you, whatever you do.
Dang! So sorry to hear about that Jeff! Best wishes to you my friend.
Sorry to hear about the job, Jeff, but best of luck in whatever it is that you end up doing to get the bills paid. Of course we would love to see you come back here, if that’s a viable option.
π Sorry to hear that π
I hope you’ll manage something, and will soon find another mean to meet the ends.
I wish you well
I’m sorry to hear that Jeff. I know it can be rough, I was out for almost two years, and I’m still not making what I was before I got fired. π But, this means no more weekly commuting and more time at home right?
I’m sorry to hear that, but I do look forward to having you back around. Kaldath and all the others have been great, but it just hasn’t been the same without you.
Sorry to hear that, but I’m sure many would agree that it would be great to have you back here at least for a while.
All things work together for good…
Hey Jeff, sorry to hear about the job. That’s a big kick to the nads. Was there myself in 2010 and then when I was surfing the net days after, I discovered this crazy site that let’s you create superheroes by yourself. After playing around with it for a couple of weeks, I joined a crazy forum where people shared their ideas and added encouraging critiques to make them better. I started feeling better about myself which helped me get the motivation to get back on the horse and find the job that I’m succeeding at today. I guess what I’m trying to say is that you and this program has been here for us when we needed to be cheered up. Just know that we are there for you if the need arises.
P.S. I hope you lean your decision back to evolving the Heromachine program. With never reading in 3 years any negative feedback on this tool, I truly believe there is untapped potential with expanding it to a higher degree. In the current times of superhero movies taking Hollywood by storm, I say strike now while the iron is hot!
Attention all ‘machiners! Let’s get the word out there about this AWESOME site! You play games online, tell ’em about it. You’re at the comic store, tell ’em about it. You play RPG, tell ’em about it. Every oppurtunity you get to pass the word to keep Heromachine alive and kickin’ is payback for Jeff to keep the machine running!
Cheers!
Ouch. Having felt the sting of the layoff myself a couple of years ago, I feel for you Jeff.
I will however, join the crowd in welcoming you back to the site if it really is financially viable for you.
I have never felt the sting of the layoff (I either was fired or Quit every job I’ve ever had!),but I still feel for you Jeff. Hopefully you can find a job that’s not work~ whatever it is!
Its cool if HeroMachine is makeing enough revanew for you to live off. Always good to be your own boss. But sorry you got laid off.
Sorry to hear that. Getting laid off sucks big time. I wish you all the best.
… and I know that someone of your talent will find another way.
Heya Jeff, I’m with everyone else: it really blows to get that old pink slip (been there), but awesome if you decide to get back to HM.
Well ello stranger, I was just wondering to myself yesterday where you and a few other old time HMers have vanished to
Like Zyp, MartianBlue (he keeps popping and then vanishing again) and SeanDavidRoss…
Oh, I’m still around. Just got burnt out with HM for a bit, but I’ll get back in the swing of things sooner or later.
