Happy Saturday, folks! Your one-day quick-fire challenge today is to create a spaceship! Think the USS Enterprise, the Death Star, X-Wing Fighters, Martian saucers, huge interstellar gas harvesters, anything at all you can imagine that's designed for travel outside of planetary gravity wells.
You only get one entry -- that's right, just one! So make it your best. Most of the other rules are the same as for a regular challenge, but instead of a whole week I'll announce my favorites either tonight or tomorrow morning. Elaborate backgrounds aren't necessary, though if you've got one it's fine.
- All entries must be in JPG or PNG form (BMPs are too big), posted to a publicly accessible website (like ImageShack, PhotoBucket, the HeroMachine Forums, whatever);
- Entries must be made as a comment or comments to this post, containing a link directly to the image and the character name;
- Please name your files as [your name]-[character name].[file extension]. So DiCicatriz, for instance, would save his "Bayou Belle" character image as DiCicatriz-BayouBelle.png.
- Please make the link go directly to the image (like this) and not to a hosting jump page (like this). Here's a quick-start guide on how to do that for various image hosting services.
I'll pick one entry as my personal favorite, which will get to be featured in the side bar to the right for ultimate glory! As a bonus you're allowed to say you won the Internet for a few days.

Nevermind the contest. Where can I find a full-size version of that poster?
Probably quite an obvious pun, that lots of people will think of, but oh well:
Well, she ain’t much to look at and half of her insides are rusted, damaged, or held together with as much duct tape and prayers we can muster, but she’s small, fast, and more manuverable than most ships out there. Picked her up from scrap and we been keepin her flyin’ these three years. With her bi-forkated rear engines, she can turn on a dime. Sometimes kid, I think the Minnow class ship was the best thing ever happened to people like us. Welcome aboard.
I LOVE making spaceships!
And yes, I did do this in an hour and twenty minutes.
I give you my work for this quick fire pop quiz, I hope it didn’t come out prematurely. I think I had a rock solid idea, at least good for a laugh. Alright lets cut the foreplay, heres my American Space Shuttle Penetrator!
I don’t know, this will be a hard one.
Wow! Seeing some of these spaceships makes me not even want to enter because I don’t know if I can top these, but I’ll see what I can come up with.
I wanted to go with a rusty faded coloring, but It seams I added some deeper colors, I truly didn’t think I could come up with this, but I am SO glad I did ~ I’m proud of it!
I was either going to call this the “I can’t build a ship to save my life, wish Jeff just had another character quiz” or the “Dragoniship” the fastest ship in the gallexy that has 6 star-fighters on the back with some major kick-ass weaponry on it. I went with “Dragoniship” I’d say wish me luck but I need prayers, not luck lol.
I had a lot of fun with this one:
@Johnny Gear – Wow!!! Nice job.
Here if my Star Fighter for the contest. It is a Hammer Class Star Fighter used during the Omega Wars of 2687.
Let me explain the situation, Admiral. Our ships, cost less than your ammo. Our engines, are made from scraps. I’m not entirely sure if our weapons are loaded. And we’re about to ruin your life.
Jeff I remember when I first posted something other then a character, you ask me if I was sure I only used HM and said you didn’t know HM could do it. Your baby has come a long way, in the three plus years that I have been using it. (Not to sound like a suck up) I think Jeff is the big winner for making a wonderful program and spending his spare time working on it. Plus a big A+ to his wife for sharing her time with his mistress (Hero Machine).
Quickie while I’m waiting for my ride:
Made mostly of Rifle Items. The forward ports are not cannons. Those are observation decks.
Wow, ships like this is why I said I need prayers, not good luck. Awesome job!!
I took inspiration from an Japanimation show I once saw and haven’t found since. It’s probably around now on BR or DVD. Now I can go check out the other entries and see how mine pales in comparison! LOL!!!
….you already have my vote. hahaha
I wanted to go with a living, organic type of ship.
There was a yellow beacon, so the Graviton Triangulation Flyer class ship met up with a droid in a maintenance area to flip an overheated panel. The GTF Audahier will be gone in sixty picoseconds, but couldn’t risk a blowout at sixty trillion units an hour . . .
(On a side note, ever try to use a mouse on the same couch as a 2-year-old who thinks the couch is a trampoline? I typed more of these coordinates than normal–not even sure of my math for the excessive giggling, and the kid was loud too!)
An alien race, launching shuttles. The one on the planet has it’s landing gear down, and that colorful cloud is a galaxy.
Built it once, “sneezed” and lost it. So here’s my second attempt at the starship.
I’m not sure if this will fit the challenge exactly… kind of an experiment in styles.
A vast alien warship appears in the sky, and before we can react, it unleashes hell upon us.
How do you make the boosters like-GLOW!? IT’S AWESOMESAUSE 😀
The vast Avercio Z. version 4.2 . How does this mass stay together? Simple. Well…Not simple. It stays together through a technical force called Zezefarium Ion . (hints the Z. in it’s name.) It takes about roughly 3,471 people to man it . 5,830 people live on it. See circle at the top? That’s the biodome. That is where civilians live. Avercio’s top speed is 906 k.p.h. Her captain is 1st Sergeant Samuel K. 😐
I FEEL YO PAIN BRUDA ;(
AAAAAANNNNNND i lost :..(
and we have a winner!well ..You got my vote! The Cadillac of Spaceships!
That awesome! You would think an alien ship would like the typical saucer ,but what do we know about a interdimensional traveling vehicle? You think like an alien…..ARE YOU AN ALIEN?;)
Well being,my days blend together,I miss the boat(ship)on this one,but I think I will make one anyway on my own time!some great stuff here!Hey Jeff this hero machine thing is pretty cool aye?On everyones behalf ,THANK YOU FOR A GREAT MIND OPENING CREATION!
Well I might have miss the deadline but I had to get in on the fun so I took out an hour to put somethin’ together.Either way here it is DISCOSHIP
Didn’t have internet yesterday, so I hope I got this in on time.
