Two cyborg killers, one meant for evil and the other for justice, duke it out with a hail of gunfire as the musical score. Only one half-man will walk away alive! Who will it be? Convince your fellow geeks in the comments, my friends, but be sure to bring your waterproof undies because there's no crying in VERSUS!
I’m going with Robo. Wonder when they are going to do a remake?
The Terminator would send RoboCop running for home crying for his mommy!
Does anyone remember playing ‘Robocop vs. Terminator’ on Sega or SNES? Good times.
I’ve read the graphic novel, and it convinced me then that the Terminator wins even if Murphy’s targeting systems are superior. Damn you SkyNet!
Ok, if I remember my movies correctly, Robocop was pretty much taken down by regular gun fire while it took a whole factory to take down the Terminator.
Terminator wins.
@Hammerknight: Apparently it’s coming next year: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1234721/
This shows how out of touch I am — I had no idea there was a game and a graphic novel about this already. Sheesh.
I’m gonna have to go with the Terminator. He’s a squisy outside covering a nearly invulnerable (To small arms fire any way) interior. With all the programming and database technology available to him, and a small arsanal of weapons he’s pretty formidable.
Robocob is a hard exterior – tough, but not invulnerable to small arms fire, with a soft squishy inside.
Terminator’s targeting system and threat assessment software would see the flaw, and put a couple rounds in the vunlerable head/face area.
Robo has some impressive targeting software as well, but his gun just isn’t good enough to do enough damage.
And if it came down to hand to hand, once again, I don’t think Robo has enough strength to hurt Terminator.
I vaguely remember a comic, but never read it. Never heard of the video game. Pretty cool.
It also shows the “Metal Men” from DC is coming out next year.
HAHAHAHAHAHA!! Yeah, but I wouldn’t put stock in a DC movie until I actually see the trailer in a theater. As much as I love DC, they suck at managing their movie property. Even worse for being owned BY a movie company.
That was Ahnuld in his best years, dudes. Of course he wins. But in the scene afterwards he throws himself into molten lava or get crushed by a garbage squasher thingy.
I loved that game, there needs to be a new version for x-box or ps3
never know 😀
THe terminator is waaay tougher. Stronger, too.
Faster, too. Robocop moves like an old, clunky machine, while arnold can pass as a human, and even run. Have you seen robocop run?
Poor murphy may slow arnie a little, but he ain’t no match for him.
Absolutly Terminator. The terminator is not hampered by a the moral craps like protect the innocent, and protect to serve. He pick up the Gatling and destroy everything and everyone.
On the other hand, the Terminator was taken down by two puny humans with small arms and improvised explosives. Robocop, despite being crippled by Directive 4, took a massive hail of gunfire and still survived. AND he beat an entire team of human enemies with much more powerful weaponry, almost single-handedly.
BTW, I would be remiss if I failed to post this link:
Funny thing, I just watched Linkara’s review of Robocop vs. Terminator #1 on Atop the Fourth Wall yesterday. Gave me no insight into this fight though.
I’m going to side with everyone else, and call Terminator on this one. Robocop’s pistol, no matter how powerful, isn’t going to breach the Terminator endoskeleton and do any real damage.
if im correct wasnt Terminator used for good in Movies 2&3?
I think it’s be pretty close, but Terminator has shown to be far more durable. Even though Terminator lost to two humans, you have to take into effect that one of those two humans was pretty much trained specifically on combat with the machines. The terminator took out an entire police station, all of which were well armed. Robocop being trained like a police officer wouldn’t employ the same guerrilla style tactics used by Kyle Reese. Though, I have to say Robocop’s auto-9 would pack a lot more punch then those guns used in the police station. Equipment is always a strange factor in these, because are we talking about the terminator with his weapons from the first movie, or does he have access to futuristic weapons like Robocop does?
Oh, h311 no! >:(
I can’t decide on this one. Abstain.
RoboCop, if you’re talking one-on-one…
Of course, there was only one RoboCop, and bunches of Terminators.
Yes, technically, the Terminator is a superior machine.
On the other hand, RoboCop is a hero, the (Schwarzenegger) Terminator is a villain, and you KNOW how those fights always turn out! 😀
There is an angle I haven’t seen anyone talk over–which universe does it happen in? In the T-series, luck is what happened to minor characters, where in R-series, luck happened more extremely to major players. . . Therefore, in T-universe, Robocop dies a painful but fairly quick hero’s death, and in R-universe, Robocop reaches some new painful level of battered and nearly loses till five minutes left in the movie–WHEN SUDDENLY–[insert gross, tasteless, stupidly improbable event here] for example, one piece of Robocop punctures a factory vat of KY jelly & another hits the switch for an industrial capacitor, draining T101. . .
For me it’s only Robocop vs. Terminator game on Sega Mega Drive, so I don’t care if Termy is stronger. I know Robby can take whole army of terminators AND his own enemies. SEGA rules!
As the RoboCop vs. Terminator comic series showed us, it’s a long, hard battle… but ultimately RoboCop comes out on top.
For a modern game I think you’d definitely need some OCP cops as backup/human shields for Robocop or some really bada$$ upgrades for Robocop… or maybe a teamup with John Connor. Outside never have read the graphic novels, it seems Terminator has better durability, agility, and weapons (in the future).
I would say, based solely on the movies, that Robocop and Terminator are about equal in physical strength. Terminator is faster and might be more durable, but Murphy’s will to survive and win was the dominant overriding theme of Robocop’s movies, while the overriding theme of the Terminator movies – was actually pretty similar, given that the entire premise is that the humans win over Skynet, and the time travel was an attempt to change the past in the machine’s favor. Humanity wins over the machines even after they triggered WWIII on our soft fleshy asses. Yeah, both sets of movies are about human will being stronger than physically superior machines. Which means, despite the Terminator’s tactical advantages, Robocop would ultimately win.
And by the way, Robocop was not taken down by normal gunfire – he was taken down by futuristic military anti-tank weaponry, “state-of-the-art bang-bang” that was misdirected from OCP’s military contracts. Weaponry that might well take down a Terminator.
