Cool BG Jeff
Been awhile since I’ve seen the classic circle-fade backdrop around here. 🙂
My plan is to go back and add one of these posts for every single contest winner, all in the “Hall of Fame” category. That way you can go to that category and find them all in one place without having to do the server-intensive thing I used to do.
sweet! he reminds me of Bane!
I actually thought this was done in Heromachine 2 until I noticed the pose.
Very nostalgic. I like it.
Editing tip: You don’t need that comma after “Draw” in the header. The flow to a preposition moves more smoothly without a caesura.
True, but I like the pause it introduces, like the “draw” is emphasized. “You don’t have to be able to DRAW … to make a great drawing.” I like to imagine the guy in the All-State commercials doing my voiceover.
Then why not a dash? It’ll imply a pause while keeping the readers’ eyes moving forward.
I used to be a magazine editor – I can’t stop doing this.
I dunno, to me a dash is something more abrupt.
Look, I was an English major and am usually a major Grammar Policeman, but darn it, if I can’t be grammatically artsy in my own banner then what’s it all for!
Fine, I couldn’t look at it any more without that comma leaping out at me, so I took it out. Hmph. I’m bein’ repressed, here!
Hey Jeff, can I just ask why you chose Chains for the hall of fame? I was never all that fond of him myself. I think I’ve made much better characters than this.
He won the “banner” contest, didn’t he? The Hall of Fame is mostly for the contest winners.
Nope. He was a finalist in that competition but he didn’t win it. It was my other entry that won it, the blond woman who was later named “Mary Majestic” by someone on the forums who I unfortunately can’t remember at this point in time.
You also used my character Red Devil on the banner for quite a while. I never understood that either.
What can I say, man, I like what I like. There’s no accounting for taste.
Oh I always liked Red Devil and I was hugely proud that you used him. I just thought there were better characters that could illustrate the potential of HM3 better than he could. He had a pretty plain face and that was all you could see of him on the banner.
I’ll stop complaining now. Thank you for featuring my characters Jeff. That’s what I should have said. 🙂
