META: Movin’ on up

Just a heads-up, I'll be in San Antonio all day helping a buddy move, so if your comments and whatnot take a while to get approved, that's why.

In the meantime, consider this an open thread, talk about whatever you like.

Helping people move has got to be one of the best things in the world to do with your time. You should feel honored that he even asked you.

  2. Hammerknight says:

Hey everyone Jeff’s gone party at his house.

  3. Hammerknight says:

Okay who do you think is the sexiest comic book character? Why in five words or less.

  4. Hammerknight says:

    CAt Fights, who would win?
    Black Cat vs. Black Canary
    Spider Woman vs. Catwoman
    Domino vs. Harley Quinn
    Elektra vs. Huntress
    Jean Gray vs. Wonder Woman
    Jubilee vs. Batgirl

  5. Runt82 says:

Sexiest character in 5 words or less……Psylocke and Emma Frost tie.

Cat Fights (I smell a new poll question):

    Black Cat
    Catwoman
    Domino
    Elektra
    Jean Grey
    Batgirl

  6. Hammerknight says:

    Catwoman, just woo!
    Cat Fight,
I’m siding more on the DC side.

  7. Hakoon1 says:

Marvel all the way until the last one, in which I’d go for BatGirl. Why isn’t Shadowcat on here?!

  8. Hammerknight says:

I had her on the list but I cut it back some.

  9. Matt says:

@ Hammerknight (4): Jean Gray would go Pheonix on her ass

  10. Hammerknight says:

I’m still going with Wonder Woman.

  11. haydnc95 says:

    Black Cat
    Spiderwoman
    Domino
    Elektra
    Jean Grey
    Jubilee
    i love marvel character 🙂

hey, is anyone gettin Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2???

  12. Matt says:

@Haydennc95: I’m getting it, it looks awesome, expecially with the civil war in it, too bad they got rid of some of the characters from the first game (I’m going to use Venom :D)

  13. Hakoon1 says:

I’m getting it too! You can play as Gambit AND Rogue :D!!

  14. Hakoon1 says:

Darn it’s not Rogue it’s Jean Grey. Do you think you might be able to get some kind of Phoenix upgrade or something?

  15. thejay says:

my vote goes to x-23. You can’t beat a wolverine clone.

  16. Matt says:

What I am wondering about is why they didnt use Galactus as the main antagonist of the game because in the X-men Legends series (which is basically the same as ultimate alliance) they showed Apocolypse at the end of the first game and he was the main enemy in the second, and in this one they showed Galactus wanting revenge at the end of the first one, but went onto the secret and civil war in the second (sorry if I bored you, I just wanted to tell you I was confused).

  17. Hakoon1 says:

I know what you mean Matt, that’s what I thought. Then again, that might have lead to FF2?

I was hoping for more X-Men characters :(.

But, there are 2 spaces left. I believe that they are Cable and Bishop as I remember seeing them in the trailer. If you could play as those two you’d be freakin’ unstoppable!

Cyclops, Iceman, Colossus and Nightcrawler should have made it too :(.

  18. Hakoon1 says:

Cable, Bishop, Multiple Man, Emma Frost, Crystal, She-Hulk, War Machine, Deathstrike, Namor and others also appear in the trailer so it really could be any two of them.

  19. Hammerknight says:

What about Beast and Arch Angel?

  20. Hammerknight says:

They are two of the 1st X-Men but everybody forgets them.

  21. Hakoon1 says:

They weren’t in the trailer from my view. Beast would be good, Angel, no so good. He’s not the most powerful of mutants is he?

  22. Matt says:

@Hakoon1: Actually, I wouldn’t be suprised if Deathstrike was one of the two, because she is a member of the Thunderbolts, and they are including Venom and Green Goblin because they are members.

@Hammerknight: ANGEL was one of the first, he became arch-angel later (there was no point of saying this, I just wanted to).

  23. Hammerknight says:

So many young people on here, I didn’t know if they would know who I was talking about if I only said Angel. I don’t think they ever said his name on the X-Man movie, did they?

  24. Matt says:

No I don’t think they did mention his name, and I only just turned 15 and I know who angel is.

  25. Hammerknight says:

@ Matt I have shoes older then you.

  26. The Imp says:

‘Just a Pilgrim’ by Ennis & Ezquerra – Best. Comic. Ever.

Just thought I’d put that out there.

  27. Danny Beaty says:

Vampirella is the sexiest woman in comic books.

  28. Hammerknight says:

Danny, she’s not bad but Catwoman, Wonder Woman, and Rouge puts her to shame.

  29. Danny Beaty says:

@Everyone: There is one comic book woman that hasn’t been mentioned yet, and that is….
    THE VENUSIAN BIRD WOMAN!

  30. RSC5 says:

    Anything? Anything at all? Fine.

Anyone here who hasn’t read the novel “Soon I will Be Invincible” by Austin Grossman needs to. Was absolutely fantastic to read as a comic book fan, recognizing all the references to the genre that are used both subtly and obviously, but always in a superb fashion.

The everyday realities of life as a hero, villain, cyborg, alien princess, or whatever are showcased seamlessly against such a ridiculous world as they inhabit…Because sometimes, as a genius level supervillain, you gotta change into your costume by a dumpster behind an Applebees.

    And that’s okay.

  31. William A. Peterson says:

    Cat Fight question:
    Black Canary {No contest! Diana can take on Lady Shiva!}
    Spider Woman {I like Selena, but she doesn’t have any powers…}
    Harley Quinn {Tough one, but when in doubt, go for the Psycho!}
    Elektra {I like Helena, but she’s not *that* good!}
    Jean Gray {Diana’s tough, but she doesn’t breathe vacuum too well, and Jean can hurl her into orbit!}
    Batgirl {I was going to ask which Batgirl, but we’re talking Jubilee, and her “Quasi-Sentient Plasmoids”, here…}

  32. William A. Peterson says:

    RSC5, you’re kidding, right?
I read it, and it was *terrible*!
    Oh, it started off, okay…
but the ending made no sense whatsoever!
Then, I read it was basically a rip-off of a Dostoyevsky novel, only the author decided to substitute “trying to take over the world” for “masturbating”… 🙁

  33. RSC5 says:

Will…do the majority of comic book story arc endings make sense? Honestly? I felt it fit the tone perfectly and I loved every bit of it, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Check out the TV Tropes or Wiki entry for it if you’re curious as to what it’s about, other people.

  34. Whit says:

Whoops, I put that in the wrong thread, sorry…

  35. Hakoon1 says:

@HK #23- I know everything about X-Men. You could have said Mr W and I would have known who you were talking about. And yeah, he only became Arch Angel when Apocalypse turned him into one of his horsemen because his wings were injured or something.

@Matt #22- Yeah it could be fun to team her and Wolverine up if she makes it. But, Ghost Rider was on the trailer doing a move and he isn’t on the character page on the website so I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out to be him…

  36. Hakoon1 says:

You can only play as Juggernaut if you Pre-Order from the website. Just to let you know.

  37. Laridian says:

“Soon I Will Be Invincible” started strong, ended weak. The ending kept me from recommending it to anyone.

In other topics: pancakes or waffles? Pancakes seem to be more versatile in terms of mix-ins, but waffles really let you carry the butter, syrup and other toppings thanks to the indentations…

  38. Runt82 says:

Waffles have more personality. Pancakes are just flat.

  39. Danny Beaty says:

@Runt82 and Laridian: If you can afford both pancakes and waffles, then you must have alot of dough.

  40. Runt82 says:

    @Danny Beaty: *facepalm*

  41. RJ McD says:

french toast or eggie bread? french toast has powered suger and other sweet stuff on it eggie bread just pepper and ketchupe what do you guys like?

  42. Xstacy says:

Hmm, I’ve been curious about Soon I Will be Invincible, but I’m still left wondering whether to give it a shot.

Is it better or worse than Minister Faust’s From the Notebooks of Dr. Brain?

  43. RSC5 says:

@XStacy: I’ve never read that one, but I’ve just looked up the summary and it seems less…subtle than “Invincible”. Mind you, that’s a first impression going by the names and setup. But at least give “Invincible” a try. Worst case scenario is you hate it and return the book to your library satisfied with the knowledge.

  44. Matt says:

@Hakoon1: Angel’s wings were clipped so that he couldn’t escape.

  45. The Imp says:

I really enjoyed ‘Soon I Will Be Invincible’. Wonder if he’s planning any sequels?

  46. Hakoon1 says:

@Matt: Yeah I knew something happened to his wings, and Apocalypse offered him the new ones am I right?

  47. Bael says:

Just to prove I have too much time on my hands, I give you the short version.
Angel fought the Marauders Harpoon and Blockbuster to give some of the Morlocks time to escape. Blockbuster broke his wings, then Harpoon pinned him to the wall by them. Due to his complications from his mutant physiology and some manipulation by his soon-to-be-former friend Cameron Hodge, The doctors amputated them to save his life. Angel then tried to commit suicide, but was kidnapped by Apocalypse. Apocalypse offered him new wings and brainwashed him to be his Horseman, Death. When the rest of X-Factor talked him down, they dubbed him Archangel. Clear as mud?
