(Frequent commenter and power-user Hammerknight has been kind enough to put together some visual tips, which he calls "recipes", to help you assemble just the right visual for your character in HeroMachine 3. His latest installment deals with properly sizing your character by age. Thanks again HK, these are great! Feel free to use the comments to ask questions, get tips on putting together your character, or anything else help-related you have on your mind.)

The Secret Lair
How come those little arrows in the reset scales don’t do anything? Also, when I choose “All Items”, and resize something, the difference doesn’t show in the x and y reset scales.
The arrows are supposed to be “enter” buttons.
yeah but how many 12 year olds are that buff? Can’t wait for the femail model to come out because you can use the arms and legs for a pre-pubescent affect. But maybe after that, we could get a few pre-pub torsoes (aka non-barbie boobs or roid-driven bodies)?
Of course this would be way down the line, I know, but what’s a superhero without a jr. sidekick?
All you have to do is cover up the muscles like I have shown in some of my other recipes. By changing the size and and there and doing the cover up you can make any age or sex that you want to, just takes a little time and effort.
I’ve done that for quite a few pictures, and it does help. But the proportions, especially the bulkieness of the neck which still bother me. Also, if you are using masking or textures, it adds even more complications. I hope I don’t sound lazy or anything. And I realize that just getting together a basic female item set must be time consuming. I really do love this project and all that can be done with it. I’d just like to see the model selection perhaps go beyond what we saw with 2.5 some day.
