TrekkieParticipantThanks guys! I wanted to create something that looked simple but striking- guess it worked

TrekkieParticipantIt’s been a long time since I did any zypping, so I decided to make sure I haven’t got too rusty
This is Vivian Hawks. She’s part of the same universe as Ada Wilder- she’s a reporter, trans and a lesbian. Vivian and Ada end up developing feelings for each other (Ada’s bi. Did I mention that? I don’t think I mentioned that.)

A lot of masking and layering to give her dress that 40s silhouette, I think it worked

LullabyOfTheSinParticipantHer face, hair and clothes look so natuarl that i was about to open door to my room for that lady like (not-)true gentelmen. Wow!

VampyristParticipantShe’s great. I love her makeup, her dress, and the shading. She’d fit right in any noir story. Great job!

djubyParticipantLovely!

TrekkieParticipantThanks djuby!
Putting Vivian’s dress together inspired me, and I decided to try my hand at creating some more 40s-style clothing (and hair. I just used one of the pre-drawn faces though)

The coat was supposed to look like those box coats, but I couldn’t quite get it right
I forgot how much fun it is to just create stuff on HM

TrekkieParticipantThanks!
Here’s some more (I’m having a lot of fun with these):
A short-sleeved shirtwaist:

A sweater blouse:

Trousers and blouse (the trousers were probably the hardest thing so far. I did a lot playing around with skirts and pants items to try and get the shape right. Still doesn’t look quite right to me):

Herr DParticipantIs the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy From Company B a copyrighted character? That might be interesting . . .
August 21, 2016 at 4:22 pm #137611
TrekkieParticipantMaybe… Though now that’s just made me want to go and listen to the Andrews Sisters again (while I’m at it, if anyone’s interested, I recommend the DeMarco Sisters. They sang on the Fred Allen Show in the 40s, and they’re nowhere near as well known but they’ve got a good sound)
A couple more:
There’s a blouse pattern I found on google images I used as the basis here

Getting the exact shape right was harder than I expected it to be:

Maybe I’ll start doing some headshots focusing on the hairstyles next
