Character Design Contest ♯48- Be Inspired

This week I'm going to try something a bit different. Instead of giving you a set topic which you have to stick to, I'm going to give you free reign to create what ever you want. However, I have one proviso, this week I've been looking at a lot of art inspired by music and visa versa, so I want you to create something inspired by a piece of music. It doesn't have to be connected to the content of the song, but I want you to try to capture the feeling of that song in your work. Hopefully this will lead to some very good art work from you all. You can do characters, abstracts, landscapes, anything. The one rule I have this week is I want you to put the song title and artist name in the comment when you post your work, because I can't judge how well your art captures the music if I don't know what song you've done. And don't worry about me not liking the song. I'm pretty open in my music tastes, as long as it isn't Justin Bieber or Music Concrete (don't ask).

Hopefully this isn't too complicated. I am going to put a limit on entries this week, 3 per person. The contest will close at 12am Sunday (blog time). Please read the rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

My life is ill, son. Prepared to kill, son.
A paradox of pain, baby. It’s real, son.
Lonely traveler, ain’t tryin’ to battle ya,
but if you feel tough, dawg, I welcome all challengers.
Ain’t got no family. You see there’s one of me.
Might lose your pulse standin’ two feet in front of me.
I’m pissed at the world, but I ain’t lookin’ for trouble.
I might crack a grin, but I ain’t lookin’ to hug you.
Think about it. Nobody wants to die.
There’s rule to this game, son. I’m Justified.
This journey’s too long, I’m lookin’ for some answers.
So much time stressin,’ I forget the questions.
I fear no man. You don’t want no problems, B.

Song: Def Leppard- Blood Runs Cold

This song has always made me think of this, from the first time I heard it.

  7. Herr D says:

I took a break from handing out resumes to people who don’t believe I’m competent to breathe to drill a certain young person I know on alphabet twice as much as time would normally permit. True to form, she gave no sign she was learning anything at all. I took a break from that and started listening to the mood music for this picture.

I’m going to go get a hug. You don’t need the alphabet for that . . .

  8. Herr D says:

Even the most precious of hugs didn’t quite do it. Then I remembered music made it worse. –So I pulled out something a little more upbeat to let that hug do it’s work. Rockabilly ’80s pop for some pomposity (is that what they call ‘swag’ now?)

Normally growing up is good for a band, but not them!

  9. Herr D says:

Movie music is sometimes the best, and I was in my ’80s music. Naturally this jumped out at me. I made it a silhouette partly to avoid copyright problems–but really, this IS what the song is about and from. So I made something like a still remotely resembling period stylized animated credits.

In case anyone’s wondering, the stream emitter is the chainsaw from ItemRight / Miscellaneous squished.

  10. ABC123 says:

This lass’s face came into my head and reminded me of this song, and things kind of went on from there…
