AMS sent an inquiry to Kaldath asking what happened to me and what the future of HeroMachine is. So I thought I should duck in to wave and update you all.
The update is, there is no update 🙂
I've got a full time job and travel every two weeks between Austin, TX and Durango, CO. That doesn't leave me with a lot of time or energy for much else, so I don't work on HeroMachine much. I still intend to convert all the left-only items to right, but after that I'll probably consider HM3 done. I don't foresee any new items coming out -- what you've got now is likely all there will ever be.
After that, I honestly don't know. I've been tossing around various ideas but nothing has really gelled yet. HeroMachine 2 continues to generate an order of magnitude more revenue from ads than any other version, so the financial motivation to do more isn't there.
For now I'm content to let things continue to coast. People are still making awesome characters, Kaldath & Krew are doing a great job with the blog postings, and I've got my hands full with everything else in my life. So for the foreseeable future, the status quo will remain.
Hope that's not too much of a disappointment for everyone. I appreciate your interest and continue to be be honored that you all continue to hang out and create.
What about finishing the Body-Mechs? I’m sure you can squeeze an SOD in-between flights. ;9
Honestly, thank you, Mr. Hebert. I’ve been “machining” since 2.0. This is a very creative and fun community to be a part of. I wish nothing but happiness for everyone. If you’re feeling down, uninspired, or even hopeless, stop around these parts of the interwebs. We’re here for you.
IMHO, this is the best site on the internet.
Other than Tops-Female-Tech, you’ve done an amazing job with Heromachine. Probably disappointing to be reminded of the un-done parts other than right-left, so sorry.
So a simple answer what happens – LIFE.
Thanks everything Jeff, i think we can’t wrote more.
The Tech sets were legacies from early testing — I just imported the stuff I did for the UGO Modern Warrior applet to see if it would work at all. It’s leftover, part of the mess of live beta testing.
Body-Mechs were another throw-in from an abandoned UGO product. I don’t see doing any more with them, it was just a freebie that took very little effort.
Just great to see you back posting. Personally I miss your insight and critical eye. Hope all is going well.
Jeff, be well friend. I have sadly not used the program in a while, but I will say that this is still the best character creator program I’ve seen, even with the unfinished bits.
Just try to poke your head in and say hi every once in a while.
Ah, well, in that case, carry on with your job, and don’t stress too much about getting stuff done for HM3. Also don’t stress too much in general, but.
Thank you, even if i was too late to have discovered this wonderful stuff of yours called HeroMachine…
Nobody’s too late for anything, nothing’s stopping or leaving or anything — the site is still up, the apps will continue to be there, it’s all good. I’m not quitting or anything, I’ve just been more absent than not is all.
AMS was wondering why so I figured I ought to pop in and let everyone know I’m still here and the site’s still plugging along even though I’m not much involved any more.
all hail Lord Hebert: bald crusader and valiant leader!

hi
This, yes. Thank you Jeff, and best wishes.
1. You are missed, so do pop in when you can.
2. The status quo could do for quite some time. I have barely begun to touch on what ideas may come.
3. HM2 is better for revenue? I’m surprised. HM3 is so much easier to do more with.
4. While of course I’d like more items, I’d encourage you to only do two kinds: Those you want to do and modular pieces. Background / Shapes could open up perspective shots and the hm world of possibilities will mushroom. They might even be easier.
5. As someone whose life is ever in the way, you have my sympathy and understanding. I pray we will all have better stamina, schedules, and efficiency during downtime.
Thank you Jeff, iv had a lot of fun experiences with the new items and with the community as it grows. The only thing I request or beg for it you will is that we finish with the metallic body parts. We have them in Legwear but nothing in tops. If that were done I think it would feel more complete for me.
Hey Jeff,
I was wondering if some of the pieces I have created and submitted would be added before the shop is closed. There are a few that I would love to see available.
I know I’m not on as much but it makes me sad to see the HeroMachine stop adding in goodies. I would even be willing to update the app myself (making sure to use the same version of Flash), but I know that might be easier said than done. If it was possible and you were willing perhaps I could do them in batches every so often. So once you have “completed” the project I could just add updates. Just a thought.
I can’t say for sure, dblade. Send me an email with the specific items you’re waiting on if you can remember and I’ll check.
Thanks, Jeff. I also have a handful of items that I haven’t submitted but I will wait to discuss in an email.
