Not me! (Provided it’s Zatanna)I think it’s the perfect female stage mage costume!

  2. Kaldath says:

@Keric, Actually that is Black Canary

  3. Wilomica says:

I just mentioned I thought a JLA movie should have Black Canary in it so not me!I love that superhero! Sadly due to a lack of artistic talent I cannot get Heromachine to make her come out like that. I can do the Thing! Also sheThing!

  4. Lawrence Wilson says:

    We’re cool!

  5. Firecracker says:

    Hubba Hubba

  6. William A. Peterson says:

She’s had worse, though I still like the original fishnets a bit better…

Here’s a question. Who really cares WHAT you wear? What or whether or whatever! One more question–IS there something that looks bad on you?

[Questioning can be safe if it doesn’t go against vanity or cheapen it.]

She is sexy and all… But that’s the problem, in part. More to the point, what bothers me is not the fishnets per se, but the fact that, without any special in-character reason, or without the comics being supposed to have any level of erotic content, this sexualises her to a point we don’t see in male superheroes. Hell, aside from Conan, how many heroes do we see who show up their legs or torso?

In a way, though, this echoes society, where a man who dresses up is supposed to show less (tuxedo and all), whereas a woman is more or less expected to show more (cleavage, legs…). I mean how many men do we see wearing Tank Top (or even sleeveless t-shirts) when going to a classy social event?

  9. William A. Peterson says:

Fashions and Styles change, over time… But Black Canary was created in the 40s (IIRC), and that look suits her, in a way that the Doubleknit Leisure Suit look really didn’t. Partly, it’s a matter of familiarity… Put her in a Batgirl costume, and she’s not going to look like Black Canary anymore, now is she?
Yes, the original Black Canary was dressed as a ‘Bad girl’ sort, but there WAS (once upon a time) a good, character-driven, reason for that! She started out doing the “Green Hornet” gag, pretending to be a Crime Boss, so she could ferret out information that the regular Cape and Cowl set weren’t going to get…
NOT a good idea for a continuing series, in my opinion, but it’s what she was trying to do when she came up with the costume!

That is apparently Black Canary’s custom from the pages of the New 52 Birds of Prey comic.
