Power User Profile: Zyp!

At long last, arguably one of the greatest HeroMachine creators around has provided his Power User Profile. Ladies and gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to present the one, the only, ZYP!

  1. Online name used in HeroMachine environs: Zyp
  2. A photo (or drawing) of you in “real life”:
  3. Real name: Jupe Parkkonen (Jupe being short for something. NOT french for “skirt”! Definitely not…)
  4. Real city/state/country: Finland
  5. Real job: Soon to be a student of comics! Gotta be exited about that…
  6. Real age: 20
  7. Gender: Male
  8. Relationship status (married, single, in a long-term relationship, dating someone, “it’s complicated”, etc): Single. Not complicated at all.

  9. Online archive of your creations: Heromachine forums and Photobucket.
  10. The best piece of HeroMachine art you’ve created:

  11. Favorite all-time geeky movie if any: “Starship Troopers”. I saw it when I was way too young and all that spacebug-smaching left its mark on me… I’m also a really big fan of “The Lord of the Rings” but I don’t consider it to be “geeky”. :D
  12. Favorite all-time geeky book if any: I’m gonna have to say the Scott Pilgrim-series. Also Watchmen and V for Vendetta are my big favourites. If you actually ment real books without any pretty pictures in them, propably LotR though, again, I don’t consider it to be all that geeky.
  13. Favorite all-time geeky TV show if any: “Chuck”
  14. Favorite all-time comic book character if any: Spiderman
  15. If you could have one super-heroic power in real life, you’d choose: Flight

  16. In your leisure time you like to: Draw, paint, read comics, read other stuff besides comics (like traffic signs and such), parkour, play videogames.

  17. Character design turn-ons (things you love to see that make for a good design): Good colour scheme. Characters that look like actual drawings instead of being assembled of different pieces from heromachine (even though they are).
  18. Character design turn-offs (things you hate to see that make for a bad design): What bugs me the most are the small easily fixable mistakes like no ears on a character and especially wrong facial proportions.
  19. Best tip for a HeroMachine newbie: Look at stuff other heromachinists do and try to figure out how it was done. Remember that basic human anatomy applies to heromachine eg. eyes are vertically in the middle of the head and the top of the ears are at that same level.
  20. Any personal message you’d like to share with the HeroMachine community about Geek Life: Umm… Don’t be afraid to be who you are… Or something…

  1. Congrats Zyp!

  2. I am so jealous of Cyborg DJ! One of my favorite HM designs.

I finally got around to writing that story I promised for El Matador de Toros. If you like it enough, I will post it on the UGO Forums for permanence.

    Here it is:

  3. Great to see you getting power user status Zyp! Well-deserved- you have some fantastic creations.

  4. Always love seeing your creations Zyp. They’re extraordinary.

  5. Your fav art kind of reminds me of Daft Punk. Always a fan of your art, and love Starship Troopers (probably my favorite “tongue-in-cheek satire” genre movie). Congratulations on the Profile!

  6. Congrats, Zyp! And I would also like to thank you for not having a goatee. Fight the power!

  7. Congratulations, Zyp :) Your designs always blow me away

  8. Congrats Zip. Welcome to the club. What’s up with not having facial hair, though? ;)

  9. Definitely one of my top three favorite HM creators. Your work never fails to impress, Zyp.

  10. Congrats Zyp. That’s an awesome profile. And also. no facial hair. I love it!

  11. Thank you all so much! :D

@The Atomic Punk: That’s great! :D I love how the story suggests that el Toro Is actually a good guy and The Matador is just a tool working for the company. And how it explains all the little things like the bottles and the boulder on the rooftop! Go ahead and post it if you wish!

@Gero: Yeah, I’m a big fan of Daft Punk and the Cyborg DJ was definitely influenced by their awesome style.

@Zaheelee: We stand united! Beardless! (Couldn’t grow one even if I wanted to but they don’t need to know that, do they?)

  12. I’m not surprised to see you here. Congrats, you really make HM3 dance.

  13. Congratulations, Zyp. I am contemplating how I can photoshop some facial hair and bald head on your picture to keep the Power User Paradigm (PUP)® intact.

I am just puzzled how you follically gifted folk can even use Hero Machine effectively. :)

  14. @Dblade: It’s a well-guarded secret.

  15. The ranks of the beardless are growing within the power users.
We shall counter your beards with our full bodied hair :)

  16. Congrats Zyp, your work is outstanding and it often inspires me to work even harder in HM. I’m always caught between admiration and contempt for your abilities. Contests would be so much easier without you around, but still seeing something extraordinarily made by you makes up for the insane competition you create. You are an artist and master in HM3 and well deserving of Power User status.

Also yet another beardless power user to be skewing the demographic. There are more of us every day. Cue evil laugh.

Atomic Punk, I like the story… by all means, please post it on the UGO forums! It seems worth a HotW nomination!

  18. Grats Zyp for the power user status.

  19. Cyber DJ is 37 flavors of awesome! Well done, sir!

  20. Watson Bradshaw

Congrats Zyp, you always do stunning work that makes me terribly mad that I didn’t think of it first and to top it off you are ridiculously young and will only get better as you get older. Life is just unfair sometimes :)

  21. I think these comments prove that we are ALL jealous of you, Zyp. But, you challenge us and have us strive to make better characters. I never tried to figure out how to make different poses until I saw your entries for the HM2 redesign contest. Now, I am going to start working on shading and gradients. Thanks for the motivation!

  22. Welcome aboard.

  23. Congrats ZYP! You are truly an artist and I wish all the best in any future projects and goals.
When you are in the comic biz, make sure to let us know what you are working on!
    Cheers!
