SOD.069 – DOOM!
After the discussion with Imp in the last thread, I wanted to try doing all the coloring in Flash. It can handle gradients, but for nicer shading you really need Photoshop.

There was a really amusing moment when I came to the site this morning, and saw the title…the head…and in multiple scroll bumps the giant DOOM. It just fits his “I’m too great for this world, and am my own god” personality. Doom is interesting for that reason, I always found.

I would agree, that towering arrogance and megalomania is what makes Doom so interesting. I love the character, he’s pretty much the perfect super-villain to me — intelligent, driven, powerful (but not ridiculously so), well matched to his opponents, and supremely arrogant.

You’ll have to read the comics to know what’s up with him nowadays, but it was always my understanding that he wore a mask to cover hideous demon scars on his face, yes.

I just thought of something…
You know how there’s a theory that the Joker has a form of insanity that counts as a superpower? I believe it’s called “Super-sanity” or something.
I wonder if Doom’s arrogance can be qualified as a form of “Super-arrogance” that crosses the line to a superpower.

I love the atmosphere that makes you think, “DUNDUNDAH!!!!!” That is what you look for in a villian drawing, and you pulled it off beautifully. Good one. I know I say this every time, but that is because all of your drawings are good, although some have some minor issues. But overall, you’re a great artist Jeff!
