The title says it all, the "LegwearStandard" Set is now available for the Female template in HM3. Enjoy!
(Originally posted as Tops, which was stupid. Oops.)
Nice one Jeff, but I think you mean legwear 😀
Well crap. Of course you’re right, Hakoon, I’ll change it up above, leaving this here as an admission of moronity.
Thanks for pointing that out, by the way!
Looks good Jeff, thanks.
These are great, thanks Jeff 😀 .
Nice, the female female side of HM3 is starting to take shape 🙂
Have you decided what to do next Jeff?
I vote for something new like dresses.
My vote goes for some shoes. I can only make so many barefoot girls.
*Sigh* Right after the FNF deadline, too. Thanks a LOT, Jeff… 😛
Jake: The male shoes resize very well. Feet stay the same, leg bits at 80% seems to work for me.
Personally, I’d like some Coats or Spandex… those are the things that don’t resize well.
Great selection on the legwear standard. I do have one request regarding future installments. Could you put in a cape and sleeves that have a different trim ala Supergirl? Here is an example of the cape and sleeves.
I tried using the masking option with male hands and the male boots but its not working for some reason. Either I’m messing up or the program can’t pull it off.
Yeah, definitely doing spandex (tops and legwear) next. After that we’ll see.
It’s not you, Mr. Q, there’s just not an item like that yet. There is one long-sleeve option, I think, that hangs down, but it’s not exactly like what you’ve got pictured here.
@Mr. Q, this is as close as I can get to your picture right now. I used boot tops to make the sleeves.
Thanks for the new legwear the only thing is, they don’t really work too well with the new female poses. I don’t if they’d work better separated into sections like the male coats.
I was just going to post the same thing, Lawrence. Still have to go with “skintight spandex” (recoloring the legs into a certain color) when wanting to do one of the other more sexy poses.
Hmm love those new items Jeff 🙂
Out of curiosity, do you plan on converting some of the tops from the “MaleTech” category for the female poses? I’m asking of course down the road, after the spandex tops and legwear are completed.
I look forward to the female spandex stuff!
All of the tops will be converted for the female standard template, yes.
Just like the male, where only the base Standard one is fully supported across all items (and not, say the Warrior or Zombie ones), the only fully supported female body template is the base straight-on, symmetrical one. The hip-cocked pose and the ones from HM3 are there just to be an add-on if you want a little variety for those situations where it works out, but I’m not drawing every item specific to all those different poses.
So far, my only complaint is that most of the female pants are annoyingly low-waisted, especially the miniskirt/double slit skirt and the briefs.
I went with the low waist on purpose, as if you incorporate the curvy hips, resizing or moving or angling the items becomes pretty much pointless — they go right there on those hips in that way and that’s it.
I hate to be a dick, but how can the cocked hip pose be there for variety if we can’t use any of the pants with it? A lot of the items don’t need to be re-drawn. Such as the skirts, they can just be rotated. A few more options would be nice.
I’ll have to second the “too low waisted” comment. The set as it stands makes it hard to do the sort of classy portrayals of women that you often see for Lois Lane or Diana Prince there are lots of hip huggers and cargo pants, baggies, lots of pockets, waists so low that you can tell if she needs a shave, and the like, but not a single clean cut dignified pair of slacks or the like. Sexy minxes certainly have their part, but to have everything so low waisted and casual is just unbalanced.
There’s one trim pair of slacks with a belt and cuffs, but it is way too short waisted. And what top do you put with it? There are a number of possible shirts, a button-down long-seleeved Oxford style, an epauletted broader-lapelled sleeveless, shirt and a couple of shirts with ties, but try to tuck them into these hip huggers, and they look hardly any less casual than if you leave them untucked.
It was ridiculously easy to throw together a quickie (literally in a couple of minutes) “girl reporter in shirtsleeves” design with HM3, which shows why I’m such a big fan of the program, but at least to my eye, the hip-huggers really spoil the impact. Here’s the result:
I can see the value of some of the items being low waisted for flexibility and for many of the items to be casual, rumpled and the like, but to my eye, the current set has a hole in the area of classy outfits, the sort you want for the Lois and Diana sorts. The reporters, detectives, spies, military women an the the like. The latest artwork is so clean and classy in its style that I really want to carry that over into the content, at least as times–there are other times when “trollops in tights” is the way to go. 🙂
Just my two bits.
This was a problem on 2.x as well, only the other way — people complained that there weren’t enough hip hugger items and too many high-waisted ones. I’ll be putting in some additional high-waisted options as well, possibly an entire set. But as usual, you have to do something first, and in this case since I was just converting pre-existing items from male to female, I had to follow what was there, choosing one style over the other. The rest will come.
Works for me, Jeff. Thanks. As I said, I really love HM3 and the way it’s going. Keep up te good work.
