The Secret Lair
“That sounded like Murder…. no other condition could possibly result in a person screaming out AAARGH! Falling and breaking your arm would be more of a Grunt!, a sudden heart attack would involve more heavy breathing, I’d imagine, and in my ‘meddling idiots’ dictionary, AAARGH! is described as ‘the sound made by someone being murdered’. Question is, what sort of idiot killer would murder someone just as they answer the phone… that might make me a witness of sorts! Yup, I’d better get over there right away just in case I meet this mysterious killer who has a reason to kill me too!”
I like to think they were writing a precognitive rebuttal to Simon and Garfunkle’s “Sounds of Silence” with this ode to “Sounds of Murder”.
Hello Dagger my old friend,
I’ve come to talk with you again,
and though you’ve entered me without asking
this grimmaced face a horrid pain’s masking,
and the river of my life blood’s running out, and I cry AAARGH!
Making the Sound…. of Murder.
