“Esther On Routine”

“–I don’t understand this clause. We’ll own the condo, but aren’t allowed to accept packages or move things we find right outside the door or change the hanger on the doorknob. That makes no sense to me. This is the sixtieth floor. No one can even get up here.”

“That, sir, is part of the ownership contract. Not negotiable. You will rescind your membership and be evicted immediately if you are found non-compliant.”

“I’m not saying I won’t agree. I very much want to own this condominium. The Cloud is wonderful and surprisingly inexpensive on this floor.”

“Indeed, sir. Please sign this non-disclosure agreement.”

“Uchhh. Fine.” [signs] “But seriously, what is this for?”

“The previous owner of The Cloud had a granddaughter named Esther. The building wasn’t called that then, and this was quite some time ago.”

“Yes?”

“Esther is deformed and disabled, has the mentality and disposition of a sweet, dutiful, and productive four-year-old. She collects the dirty towels and leaves clean ones. The staff puts out the dirty ones for her.”

“Wait, what?”

“She checks the door hangers to know how many to leave. She’s very quiet. She makes her rounds between three and four a.m. If you see her, the clauses on how to conduct yourself around her are in the section marked “Rules Of Conduct.” These rules DO apply to your visitors and guests.”

[flips pages] “This? No saying anything to her but these phrases?”

“Thank you, Hello, Goodbye, and Good Job. You may also call her Esther. She has a routine. She wears a maid’s uniform, carries an old feather duster behind her ear.”

“Are there other maids I could confuse her with?”

“No, she is rather, DISTINCTIVE, we say, sir. Slightly deformed, warty, thick glasses, barely four feet tall. Our regular maids wear street clothes when on the sixtieth floor so as not to worry her. You must understand, this is how she is.”

“So she doesn’t actually clean the rooms?”

“Oh, no sir. Her keys to the rooms don’t even fit. She has no elevator pass, and she wears an alarm belt to alert us if she ever does attempt to leave. She passes between doing laundry, watching recorded cartoons on a loop, eating the meals we leave for her, sleeping, hygiene, and her rounds. We think she thinks her family is on vacation instead of deceased these fifty-odd years now.”

“How old is she now?”

“Ninety-six, sir. If this is a problem, there are other floors. They are more expensive, but you understand. The sixtieth floor is exclusive to people known for behaving themselves, sticking to routine, and following rules. I’ll be in my office when you decide. Take your time.”

*The shoulder pad makes a great door tag and Esther’s braids. The hair is her ancient duster and the odd bits of hair sticking out of the end of her right braid. The glasses are her hair bow.

@Lull-Carae & @Trekkie- Cheers guys, glad you like ’em.

A few more pics of Vanessa. In these you can see the butterfly tattoo she has on her left shoulder. Chris has the same tattoo on his left wrist. Both got them when Chris moved in with Vanessa. Chris’ tattoo is mainly to cover up a fairly nasty scar on his wrist from when he self harmed during a time of serious depression. Vanessa decided on the design and got the same tattoo to give the tattoo sentimental value to her brother and remind him that, no matter how bad he is feeling, she’ll always be there for him.

Excellent shading on the basketball and the left boot. Awesome costume as well, really slick and eye catching with some great colour usage.

Up next is a character who’s pose I used from HeroMachiner Rise, in the ‘Poses’ section.

As with most of my characters, this guy will eventually become ‘someone’ in our tabletop RPG supers game. For now I’m calling him MicroMan. He is able to shrink down to about a few inches tall. He has a few cybernetic enhancements (powers tbd) as well.

I feel this character could have a great power set and will be fun to play.

Just something quick and fun I made in about 15 minutes… 😉

Dude, you might want to repost the last thing you put up on here. For some reason  the post was glitching the thread into thinking there was a page 56 when there wasn’t meaning that anyone who clicked on you most recent reply on the Art Gallery list was just taken to an empty reply box with no way to navigate to earlier pages on your thread. I’ve removed your last post and that seems to have fixed it and I’m just adding this reply to let you know what happened and to test whether the problem is properly sorted out.

Cheers

And nooooow Campeóns parents. What we refer to in Spanish as Hideki’s ‘suegros’.

CUAHTEMOC & TONANTZIN

TONANTZIN – Tonantzin Gonzalez: Mother to the Gonzalez siblings and wife of the superhero Cuahtemoc, she is a mejica mystic whose powers came naturally to her, through a deep empathic connection with the Earth. She is a wise and gentle soul and loves all of her children fiercely. Tonantzin naturally is more affectionate with Mauricio and is incredibly protective of him.

CUAHTEMOC – Rigoberto Gonzalez: The pinnacle of classic super heroic masculinity as Cuahtemoc, he championed the indomitable spirit of the luchador and dealt with criminals swiftly and decisively. His strength is unparalleled, even by the late Solarion, and his skill as a fighter is legendary. But as a father, Rigo has not always been a paragon of virtue. He had a hard time reconciling his machista reputation with Campeón’s coming out and dealt even less successfully with Mauricio’s being born a powerless human. His relationship with his sons remains somewhat strained, but Tonantzin always makes sure Rigo shows them love in his own way.

Hideki’s brother and sister-in-law, Campeóns younger siblings:

YAOTL

YAOTL – Marcela Gonzalez: Daughter of Cuahtemoc and Tonantzin, middle child of the three Gonzalez Siblings. Marcela is also physically enhanced, not as strong as her brother Campeón, but much more agile and far faster. She inherited some of her mother’s connection with the Earth. She can draw power from the planet itself, potentially amplifying her strength to a degree beyond her older brother’s, but this power wanes in areas of high pollution and urban centers. Marcel has a heavy-handed sense of humor and can come across as abrasive.

MAURICIO

MAURICIO – Mauricio Gonzalez: the youngest sibling. He was born physically human, no powers to speak of. He can perform his mother’s arts, but his body is not attuned to receive “the gift” and it physically hurts him to utilize magic. Mauricio has always had a bit of a self-esteem issue. Campeón cares deeply for him, but Mauricio has a bit of self-destructive streak and keeps everyone at arms-length. He does get along very well with Hideki, precisely because his brother-in-law is one of the only people in his life not actively trying to “fix” him.

Ha! Pretty accurate. I tend to get carried away with backstory and then pare down.

Continuing this little extended family concept. We have Megumi’s siblings! And her siblings have partners of her own so that means… in-laws!

HIDEKI & CAMPEÓN

THRESHOLD – Hideki Sato-Gonzalez: Megumi’s younger brother and the son of Hideyoshi Sato and an unnamed female Kami. His mother gifted each of her children with a mystic ability having to do with one of her many aspects. Hideki was born as the Master of Barriers. Hideki’s can cross over any barrier unhindered, be it a locked door, a physical object, a mystical shield, etc. He is even able to move through planes of existence. Hideki has also apprenticed in more traditional forms of magic, becoming a skilled practitioner. The sigils he has tattooed all over his body hold various spells of protection and defense, allowing him to withstand assault from even the strongest magicks. Hideki is married to Campeón Gonzalez, a fellow 2nd-generation superhero.

CAMPEÓN – Campeón Sato-Gonzalez: He is the son of legendary Mexican superhero: CUAHTEMOC, a fearless luchador with insane strength. Campeón’s mother is TONANTZIN, a Mejica priestess and a natural mystic. . From his father Campeón inherited high-level superhuman strength and durability, as well as extensive training in combat. He is married to Hideki Sato, a passing family acquaintance in childhood, turned trusted mystic consultant early in his superhero career, turned love of his life. Campeón values his family greatly. He always tries to alleviate tensions between his parents and younger siblings, and is a doting uncle to both Claire and Gabriel.
