Yikes. Nix on Photobucket, CS! They put it in the new instructions for the blog contest entries. Have a look. Photobucket betrayed us all. I’m beginning to shift to Dev-art, but I’m a slow learner and am way behind.

I am relatively new to Heromachine. I admit that my designs are standard to say the least. I do not know how to use some of the finer parts of HM3. As such, any suggestions or constructive criticisms are not only welcomed, but encouraged.

Off the top of my head, my guess is your dealing with one of two issues.

1. You don’t have ‘multiples’ turned on. In the top right hand corner of the item display window there is an option to select either “Multiples” or “Singles”. You have to switch to multiples for any item category where you plan on using more than one piece.

2. You’re actually adding the items just fine and just not seeing them. This happens to me all the time with facial features. Either they’re too small to notice or, adding them later in work on my piece, the layer they’re automatically inserted into is hidden by items already in the image. Easiest fix imo is, after clicking on the item you want to add and making sure multiples is on; if you don’t see it appear immediately, while still having that item selected, go to the “Transform” tab. First, click on the top-right button of the four buttons under “layers” to bring it to the top. Second, Increase the size to like 300/400% (you can make it smaller again once you’ve found it lol).

It’s easy to see why so many people don’t take Maple-thief seriously. The pun name and the excessive bravado (not to mention that ridiculous mustache) make him seem like a comedy idiot from some bad b-movie.

The truth, however, is that it’s all an act. Maple-thief leans heavily into other peoples preconceptions of him in order to get the best of them and often ends up leaving others looking like complete fools.

The outlandish Maple-thief is actually a front designed to distract people from the true thievery going on, quite often right under their noses.

Gave Lady Anaconda a quick background as well.

Heyall! I’m back! Didja miss me? ;D

Anywho, here’s my entry!

“Manmooth Shaman”
Far predating their distant cousins, the werewolves, the manmooths were the result of a prehistoric shaman’s spell. Cast to protect his clan during the ice age, it allowed them to take on the aspect of woolly mammoths. And it worked; his people survived through to the great thaw. However, by that point, the magic was so deep in their blood as to be irreversible and hereditary, which is why manmooths walk the earth to this day.

“Agent Couture”

Did the basic pose first, masking onto insignia shapes where needed.

Then did the same to add accessories/details/clothes/etc.

Next I hid the insignia shapes and did the base color for everything.

To finish the character herself, I used gradient background items to add highlighting/shading.

Repeated the first four steps on making her gadgets.

For the finished product, I added text from the fonts category, graph-directs made of insignia shapes, and colored/patterned the background.

“Silent Sal” is depicted in the first panel of the picture as using her purse-bomb disposal unit. The other two panels depict her target and her use of a high heel-dart gun and compact-magnifying mirror-gunsight.
