Also (because i had to comment the above before having actually read your updates :D), i am now intrigued about the Nydigovia business. Now of course, this is your fantasy world, and you alone control the ratio of historic-speculation-to-pure-fiction, but, unless by complete chance, your choice of the year 101 AD would suggest you have some knowledge of the history of the region later known as Transylvania. And, if so, if you are acquainted with the Dacian/Getae tribes of Scythian descent living there, it would make much more sense for werewolves, rather than vampires, to have crossed over from that area. Just a thought 🙂

10th-11th century… the Vikings would have been all over the place at that time, so why not Kairula too? 😉 Alternatively (or, maybe also), Kairula could benefit from the presence of some Moors, who were thriving in Northern Africa and South-Western Europe around the same time. They could add some Norse (Runic) magic and Alchemy/Djinn summoning, respectively, to the mix. Maybe some of the Precolumbian or Native American cultures? Plenty of options 🙂

Yup, pretty much. At least i haven’t had any issues here.

Oh, and the Salamander! The glowing effects you gave her made her look particularly 3D, a bit like a figurine or bumper sticker – very very nice! I realise i’m a bit of a reactionary in this crowd by actually *not* liking shading very much – obviously no offence to the masters thereof, i just feel my own works look better without them. or i still live in denial, whichever – but in this case they definitely make her “pop out”, as the word goes around here 🙂 So yes. Just giving credit where it’s due 🙂 Carry on, then.

Great job, Kaylin! I’ve been waiting for you to update the monsters section (yes, it tends to be the one most interesting for me in a game, i’ll admit :D) and i am not disappointed at all 😉 I particularly liked the Gloamgloazer (which i think was also a bit of a pioneering work for you, since many of your characters are rather the graceful humanoids, less the terribly ooky 😉 – and this *was* a compliment, btw :D), as well as the “strategic modesty effects” on the elementals/nymphs 😉 Oh, and i think “b’dang-dang” will have a long life ahead of it as an in-jokey cussphrase (that’s right, folks, you’ve just heard it first right here, on HM3!) 😀 at least i know it’ll keep me entertained for a while (and i’ll never look at an orangoutan (sp.?) the same way again 🙂 )

And i haven’t even got to the magic section yet! 😀
Also, yeah, i’m prepping up a micro-site with some of the playing cards i’m making, will share with you lovely folks when done 🙂

Well done, and keep up the good work, you’re on to epic adventures galore there! 🙂

    @Woody said:

I’ve actually had the idea of a card-based version of SODWA in the back of my mind for a while, now. We’ll see how this production goes, and once we get the community site up and running it might be something I talk with fans about. If we decide to go that route, I’ll certainly be looking for fans/designers to help put together a fun card-based experience.

Awesome! I’ll be looking forward to that 🙂 (At least meanwhile i get to hone my skills and create a larger ‘portfolio’ of my cards to impress you when the time comes :D)

Haha, indeed, Dionne up here seems to truly share my pain 😉 still, i did somehow manage to make 4 new characters last week, and i’ll add a few of my previous “best of”, so i’m almost good to go here :] And, Woody, many thanks for the encouragement (*hands him a complimentary 1980s ‘tache*) – i can relate to you in that video games have definitely been a staple of my life, too, for years now, and so has writing. Except writing what you want, or rather what you keep daydreaming about, is one thing, and being ‘academically guided’ towards writing some less-exciting (to put it nicely) material is quite another 😉

That said, speaking of consultants – Woody, if you ever find yourself in need of background write-ups for SODWA or beyond, or hey, even someone with a bit of (and growing) experience in making (pen-and-paper) tile-based battlecard games, you let me know and i’ll be glad to lend a hand ^^ (just PM me about it, the e-mail should be visible on my profile, i guess?)

    Excelsior!

Spoken like a true martyr of… err… wisdom? *cough* like Unis could give you that *cough*.

    Let’s not forget that
“To err is human, to arrrgh is pirate” 😀

Also, seeing the 2 quote lines in my signature clumped up together kinda annoys me. And it won’t let me do anything about that – how’d you manage it?

I know, right? SODWA sounds ludicrously epically amazing <3 i haven't been able to stop squeeing *cough* in a most manly and like-a-sir way *cough* since this morning, when i saw the post. I dunno what i could submit and - if it weren't for the bloody thesis i gotta write, i'd probably have more time to develop better creations - but, by gum!, imma try! As should everyone on here.

Now i’m just jealous i didn’t develop that idea sooner (talk about “if only i’d studied computer science instead :/”) but chose to create a card game based on characters appearing in my stories and illustrated via, ofc, HM (and it’s still work-in-progress). The way i read the SODWA advertisement, it should be a bit like Champions Online in terms of sheer power of customisation (except a few orders of magnitude more intense) and with battles played out a bit like in Nadirim (i would imagine). And since those are two of my most beloved games… no wonder i’m mindblown here 😀

So yeah, just my squeeing 2 cents 😉 Ah, uni work, Y U NO let me create? :<

Yeah 😀 i wish i could just shrink the images when i post them. Not a lot, just a tiny bit – almost everything looks better from a distance, after all 😀

Oh, and i’ve just checked your deviantArt profile – it seems you’re a Phantom of the Opera and Sandokan fan :3 good stuff! I remember very little of Sandokan, tbh, mostly from one of the movies i randomly saw as a kid, but he did come off as pretty heroic at the time 😉 And Eric, well… *___* (#ChristineMadeTheWrongChoiceDammit :D)

    See ya around 🙂

That awkward moment when the image you posted and felt pretty darn good about shows up as HUGE in your post for all the hidden flaws to suddenly become very visible :/
