I like both versions of Yuki-Onna, but I have some reservations about War Demon. I think she doesn’t seem as human, because you can’t see her face or any human-coloured skin. If that’s your intention, fine, but if I was making a character like that I’d want to have at least part of her face visible, like her eyes or the bottom half of her face.
I’ve been meaning to do a redo on her, but War Demon’s a power armor-type like Iron Man, so I don’t know that she would have any exposed skin. Maybe her eyes.
Thanks for the input. Always appreciated.
MyroParticipantI can’t believe I’m being lazy about what is essentially a gallery migration. Sure, it’s not very exciting, but it’s not very hard either.
Okay, so the next member of the Hell Chix is Yuki-Onna, which is a Japanese legend of a winter witch or spirit, that often leads unsuspecting men to their death when they are caught out in a snow storm.
Yuki-Onna was Jenny Takana, a Japanese-American environmental activist turned eco-terrorist. She got her powers during an industrial accident involving nuclear waste at a power plant she was demonstrating at. In addition to giving her power, the change also severely warped her mind. Believing that her destiny is to usher in a new ice age that will rid the world of lesser species, and cleanse it of humankind’s destructive ways, Yuki-Onna prefers to attack environmentally controversial targets. She can use her ice powers to create icy katana blades, an icy armor over her skin, and walls of ice, as well as blasts of cold. She can also fly.
The HM3 version is considered the final version of Yuki-Onna. Having resolved her leg issue with a gradient pattern on her right (our left) leg seems to give it enough depth, and the background is pretty evocative.
MyroParticipantI’m trying to remember what I’ve read in other superhero-based novels (an undersold market in my opinion). And honestly, I think a few of them have used the alter-ego name when the character is in that guise. As long as you firmly establish that the character and his alter-ego are the same person within your writing, it should be fine.
MyroParticipantWith the poll up for the community at large, last glance shows fire roaring back to an 8-8 tie. Which sword will win this duel now?
MyroParticipantWelcome to the party Legatus. Good to see you here.
MyroParticipantIf I can fit in a last minute nomination, I thought Vampyrist’s The Shadow was fairly inventive and creative.
Also, I hate my phone.
MyroParticipantThe scales look more or less right to me.
I kind of wish the editors of DC and Marvel had a glance through this thread. The ever escalating power levels regarding some of the characters is ridiculous. I remember reading the Dark Reign and Siege events when they were current, and saying to my other comic-nerd friends that Marvel was going to have to kill Sentry off by the end of Siege, because he was too powerful. And then Marvel thought Fear Itself was a good idea (hey, let’s give all the strongest characters Mjolnir-like weapons that corrupt them. That won’t throw the power balance out). I literally started thumping my head into the wall.
Anyway, good work GG, and thanks for allowing me to vent on your thread.
MyroParticipantThat lightning sword is just electrifying!

@Myro–i’m sorry, but i’m on a geek-hype in anticipation for the Hobbit movie comDecember, but i guess i shouldnt wish my summer away. i dont know why others are, but that’s just me.Yeah, I get that. You’ve been hyped up on The Hobbit for a while (although it still seems a little obsessive). And given the nature of your world that you’re building, I can see that you like the Middle Earth/Dungeons and Dragons genre. It just seemed that I was the only one not using Tolkien characters for a while. This actually wasn’t meant as a complaint, more of a bemused observation.
MyroParticipantDark Helmet (Spaceballs)
Also, a little curious as to why this game has become so Tolkien-centrist of late. I love me some LOTR too, but obsessive much?
