Ilbret is from the planet Om, two light years from Earth. He was a space exploration scientist on his home world, and after years of standing mission control on land he finally got the chance to pilot his own spacecraft. It was a solo mission to reach the outside of Om’s solar system. But on the fateful day when Ilbret launched, a huge meteor was headed directly for his planet. Ilbret’s ship glanced off of the side of the oncoming rock and careened out into space. He watched in horror as the meteor crashed into Om, destroying the only home he knew. His controls completely destroyed, Ilbret’s ship glided for 4 months through space. When it finally crash landed on Earth, he was near starvation. He emerged from the wreckage and found almost immediately that the oxygen in Earth’s atmosphere endowed him with incredible powers, including flight, super strength, and the ability to shoot blasts of energy from his hands. He quickly took on the identity of Tom Hughes to assimilate himself into Earth’s culture unnoticed, and after seeing the heroic efforts of Earth’s superheroes, decided to join the fray against evil. Dynamo was killed by the blade of a demon named Harm.
