David is the elderly billionaire owner and president of KingTech, a weapons development and manufacturing company based in Caligo. Now close to retirement, David enraged his philandering son Robert when he chose his vice president Henry Kilpatrick to be his successor. Believing himself to be the rightful heir to the company, Robert lost his mind with rage and became the killing machine Absalom, thanks to a technologically advanced battle suit. Regretfully, David hired the super-mercenary Doomsayer to bring Robert to the brink of death, at which point David reported him dead but secretly now keeps him frozen cryogenically. Already stern and cold, this action has made David even more withdrawn and unfeeling of the world around him.
