Serena took over as leader of the Birds of Prey when Bluejay left the team to move to Intrepid City. Now Serena interacts often with the Raven on matters of protecting Caligo, and keeps the other Birds in line when they battle evil together. Serena became Canary when the mayor of Caligo, Ralph Logan, mentioned to the Raven that his neice, Serena, was a tough-as-nails kickboxer and would make a good superhero.
