Or, because O.A.B is a tech genius, who makes all of his own weapons and defensive apparatus, the “gummy smoke” could be something of his own design, like he found a way to combine a smoke bomb with say, insulating foam, or a similar substance. As the smoke spreads to obscure vision, the foam also spreads and slows one progress.
