First off congrats Christi, I knew when you posted your pic that you would win!  As to the judgements, use your judgement, If you think one is just better overall, and that is how YOU want to say it, that is how you should say it

I think we can all see what the Homage is here.  S’Eris turned on the force field generators before she started maintenance, thus avoiding the dangers of the Faux-eye crab of Tanger 5.

 

I used  the eye as the “crab” the gun as the “force field generators” and the ground as (Gasp!) the ground. (So daring, So brave!)
