Character Design Contest ♯105- Cyborgs

Yeah, no cryptic titles this week. For this weeks challenge you must design a character that is part organic and part mechanical. The character doesn't have to be human, but they have to be cyberneticaly enhanced in some way and these enhancements must be visible, so if you are planning some form of cyber-endoskeleton (e.g. The Terminator T-800) you must show it in some form.

As per usual, no limits on entries this week and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time).  Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post pictures and images that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

Since the Terminator T-800 is technically not a cyborg but rather a pure robot covered in human skin and tissue, I have to ask if humanoid robots and androids are also allowed? 😉

@MadJack- If you read my statement, I said it must be a combination of part organic/ part mechanical, which by your own admission is what the T-800 is. So to answer your question, yes, provided they are part organic/ part mechanical.

Here is an old one that I had. It’s never been submitted into a contest but I think it captures the essence.

    Here’s one I posted recently:

Headcase was once a hero by the name of Touch until the Fae War left her head separated from her body. Fortunately, Gadgeteer was able to build a device within seconds that used Touch’s tactile kinesis powers to keep her alive. Headcase still has her abilities which is limited to controlling machines she comes in contact with. She has a variety of mechanical bodies that she “wears” depending on the occasion. Pictured here is her favorite “suit”. Also, she is a practical joker, foul-mouthed and loves to tease the new recruits.

Well here goes! It doesn’t have a story, but it is a bit of a brain buster! 🙂

ABEL (Autonomous Bionically Enhanced Lifeform) equipped with cannon-arm.

I decided to throw this one in as well. Spark Angel.

I did not think this one would turn out so well as it did!

On an alternative Earth, the Nazis were victorious during World War II primarily through the development of meta-humans. Shortly after the victory over the Allied Powers, these Nazi meta-humans, discontent with taking orders from mere humans, summarily executed the Nazi high command and refashioned the New Reich to their specifications. Soon the New Reich had enslaved much of humanity and began using humans as genetic material to further the development of even more meta-humans. Over time, some of these newly created meta-humans came to see the inherent evil of this Nazi master race of meta-humans and rebelled against the New Reich, thus plunging the Earth into a protracted civil war that would last for decades.

One of the most diabolical leaders of the New Reich was Force Marshall Androida. Androida specialized in robotics and cybernetics and was as sinister and ruthless as they come. Obsessed with the development of Cybernetic Organisms, Androida conducted horrific experiments on thousands of human test subjects. As she was perfecting her craft, Androida’s obsession became even more perverse as she started to experiment on her own body becoming, over time, a fully functional human cyborg.

As rebellion broke out, Force Marshall Androida was called upon to develop more advanced robotic and cybernetic weaponry to defend the New Reich. Among her more heinous programs was what became known as the “Fodder Project”. Utilizing human test subject culled from the ranks of ‘undesirables’ (Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, etc.), Force Marshall Androida oversaw some of the most heinous acts of barbarism ever perpetrated on mankind. Test subjects in the program became known as ‘Fodder’ (a sick and twisted shorthand for ‘Cannon Fodder’) and were horribly altered to act as a phalanx against the New Reich’s enemies.

Under Force Marshall Androida’s supervision cybernetic implants were installed in the brains of the Fodder test subjects. These implants over-rode the autonomic and somatic nervous systems of the test subjects and turned them into human automatons subject to the will of whomever was giving them commands. A remote relay system was also implanted which allowed the test subjects to be controlled remotely, miles from the battlefield. Fodder test subjects were fitted with specialized weaponry in addition to a shoulder harness rigged with explosives should a Fodder trooper be killed or incapacitated.

Once activated, Fodder troops could be marched out en masse to face off with whatever invading force threatened the New Reich. As the Fodder troops were completely expendable to Androida and the other leaders of the New Reich, they could be slaughtered by the bushel. Rebel forces, however, had to live with the horrific realization that they had to kill innocent men, women, and even children in order to achieve their objective.

Most heinously of all however, Fodder troops, although incapable of controlling their own actions, were left self-aware such that they were witness to the horror that had been visited upon them but were powerless to stop it. It was not uncommon to hear Fodder troops beg for death on the battlefield.

So I wasn’t going to enter this one (because I’m pretty sure I know who’s going to win) but what the hell…Here’s Ariadne.

Ok guys, this weeks contest is closed. The poll will be up when ever I’ve actually decided on the finalists.
