These finalist look like they where all done with the use of Hero Machine 3 or higher? Is there any reason behind the chosen finalist beside the fact that they used on of those Hero Machine promgrams b/c I am unable to utilize the functions of Hero Machine 3 or higher to make a character and think/feel that selecting only characters/pictures from those Hero Machine programs is unfair.

I wouldn’t take it personal dude. Hero Machine 3 can produce better characters. There are only so many combinations of items you can use and possible characters to be made in Hero Machine 2. As to say you may have a really cool character you just made in Hero Machine 2… chances are though someone else has already made it or something very similar.
With Hero Machine 3, however, the possibilities are pretty much unlimited (Depending on your familiarity with the program and your patients levels as a human being) You may not notice because you cant use the program for some reason but these characters in the poll are not easy to make. A lot… and I mean A LOT of time, patients and subtle tweaking went in to each of them. Unique aspects, or those little things that make you go “Wow”, are what makes a picture great, man. Unfair?? Mmmm I could see how you may think so… but No not really.
These finalists were chosen out of who was the best. It’s just that you can do a lot more with heromachine 3, like shading, better poses, etc. So, they aren’t only choosing out of heromachine 3 (as far as I know), they’re just choosing the best. And heromachine 3 can look better then 2.
@C.K. Johnson Jr.- The reason that all of the finalists are done on Heromachine 3 is because that’s what the majority of the entries were, I believe you were the only person to enter a hm2.5 entry. I’m sorry that you feel this is unfair but them’s the breaks I’m afraid. There will be a HM2.5 contest at some point in the future, but not for a while. As for “is there a reason behind the chosen finalists”, yes there is, they are the ones I feel are the best out of all the entries.
Personally, I feel that the contests are more to help people improve their skills on heromachine, so if you say that you are unable to utilise the functions of heromachine 3, I’d suggest just trying it out and practicing a bit, that’s how all of the finalists got to where they are.

I had a hard time vote’n this week. I like something different about all of em. You Hawk with your snazzy patterned patterns and glow effects. Lef with the dramatic action. Linea with her shading, item usage, and subtle pose. Madjack has one of the best 4 armed characters I’ve ever seen, and Thundersong has me going back to the machine to find some items I didn’t know exhisted as soon as I post this. Awesome Job to everyone!

Somehow I keep forgetting to enter characters that have shading or “special effects”. lol. Although my excuse is that when I enter them, it’s usually around midnight when I should be sleeping, lol.
I enjoyed seeing the different takes of all the signs that everyone made, it was simply awesome. Made me re-think some of my characters…and how I may portray them in the future.
I especially enjoyed the two different versions of Geminis’ in the polls. It was hard to pick which one I really liked more. Partial to the shading of Hawks, but also partial to multi-limbed characters, lol. Good Luck and maybe early congrats to Linea.
I know, probably not the place to ask, but I have to ask, C.K. why he cannot utilize the HM3? If you need help, the forums are a good place to find out how to do many of the things you’ve seen on the characters. It does take as JR said, practice on HM3. When I first started, I was totally confused about the functions, how to place items and all. I finally got the hang using HM3. It did take a good while for me to learn though, lol. A lot of what I first created…I now cringe at and re-made them after seeing so many awesome posts and going through the forums on how to add, shade and mask items. Don’t know what I would do without masking…one of the best things ever! Hopes this helps and encourages you.
