Discord Server: Making A Staff Application Guide And Info This tutorial explains how to create a staff applicant. This is the unofficial staff manual for AYS. This guide is not only for AYS applications but also for other server programs. Positions for Staff These are the staff positions you would normally see in an everyday server. https://discord-servers.biz/ These positions/roles may not be the only ones available to servers. Some applications may include a question such as "What post are you applying for?". - Helper - Moderator Administrator - Manager (Management) Common Application Questions - Tips These types of questions are common to all applications. When answering these questions, make sure you are clear and concise. NOTE: Servers usually require you to have at least 13 or 14. This guide is meant for everyone. What is your experience with moderation: This question means, do you have any past experience with being on the staff team on other servers. On this question (if you do have experience) What kind of experience do you have and what kind of server was it; was it a Minecraft Server, a Discord server? It doesn't really matter what you tell them, but it is something that you should include in the application. Why do they think you would be a fit for this role: This is what they are asking. Are you good a moderation, can you handle situations in a professional way? Do you have experience working with the same role you are applying for? Let them know everything. Why would you like to be a staff member on [server name]: I'm pretty sure this is an easy question to answer, but here a few tips on how to answer this question. If they are looking for details on this question, you should tell them everything that you know about moderation. Even if you are not a well-experienced staff member, try to give them as much information as possible. Do you prefer working in a group or alone? The greater your chances of acceptance, the more detailed you can be. Certain Questions: Application thoughts These are some questions that you might ask yourself. Do I lie? Here are some reasons why they ask the following and what to do when witnessing these questions. Why are they asking me about my age? They are asking you for your age because they expect maturity from applicants when they search for staff for their server. They won't search for you and ask you for your age (which is basically impossible). They are checking to see if your age is appropriate. Why do they ask for my email address? This is a common question that people might ask, but it is not something they are used to asking. Some servers require that you include your email address in an application. This is most common in Administrator and Management applications. This is so that they can communicate with you not only on discord/Teamspeak/skype but through email. Some servers require me to have a microphone, is this normal? Yes, it is normal for applications to need a microphone. This is so the application can communicate more easily during interviews or other staff meetings. Although some servers don't require this, it is a good idea to have a microphone in case you need to communicate via voice. Do's and don'ts when creating an Application There are multiple things you should not include/do in your application and include in your application. Here are some things you should NOT include in your application. Never say "Because" or "Because" when they ask you why you think you are a good fit for the job. They are looking for reasons; don't just full out say "Because I'm a good staff member", show them how you would be a good role model/staff members without exactly saying it. Make sure you are aware of your grammar. It's not a big deal if you have at least some few grammatical errors or spelling mistakes in your application, but try to make your application full on good grammar. They aren't seeing your application to test you if you have good grammar and spelling, they are looking at it as if you're professional and aware of grammar just in case. Detail is a must in your application. It is important to include detail in the most important parts. They want to see detail and effort put in your application. By giving them as much detail as you can, you're showing them that your determination to become a server staff member. Do not lie in your application: Lying in your application is one of the worst things you could possibly do. Either way, if your making an application or not, lying is not okay. Be honest with your application. For example, if someone asks you about your birthday month/year please give them your birth month/year so that they can estimate your age. You will be caught if you lie if you answer this question. Be patient with your application. Take as much time as you need to complete it. Rushing can result in spelling or grammar mistakes without you realizing. When you take your time, it makes you more focused and motivated to complete the application. Rushing means saying "I want them read my application so that I can get accepted immediately". So make sure to put your time in your application, don't speed and try to get it done fast just because you think it might get recognized first. We appreciate you taking the time to read this guide.
