Minecraft Meet-up in Peterborough The Event is Described As 'awful' Minecraft meet-up in Peterborough described as "awful" 14 September 2015 Parents of angry Minecraft gamers have posted on social media to voice their displeasure about "awful" queues and a lack to do at the unofficial convention. About 4,100 people took part in MineVention at the Peterborough Arena on Saturday to meet the stars and take part in games. However, a lot of people have said they waited for hours to meet idols and eat food, and are demanding refunds. Lisa O'Brien, the organizer, stated that the queues were long and she will issue a statement about refunds within the timeframe. The event, which is not endorsed or associated with Minecraft developer Mojang was first announced in Ireland and was the first time it was held in the UK. TV presenter It gave players of the global gaming sensation Minecraft which lets players construct many different objects with cubic blocks - the opportunity to meet the world's most famous "Youtubers", get photographs and play games. The event was hosted by Jason Bradbury, TV's Gadget Show host, and encouraged viewers to dress up as Steve, the game's protagonist in an attempt to break the world record. Then it came under fire on social media with people complaining about the long lines, a lack of food and merchandise stalls and activities for fans. Vicky Abraham shared on Facebook that she waited with her five-year-old son for more than an hour just 30 seconds on the computer. Another parent claimed she waited 45 minutes for a bottle of water and described the experience as "appalling" with "naff-all to do". Another person contacted the BBC to say they were able to leave after about half an hour because the lines were so terrible, and that her son was "crying throughout the journey to home". A few people have posted on Facebook that they were satisfied with the event, with one of them said: "I thought your event was fantastic for PS15." Lisa O'Brien of O'Brien Event Management said that she sympathized with parents since we all have kids. Free Forums She claimed that the queues were over 45 minutes because of the large number of people who attended on the day instead of purchasing tickets in advance. She stated that the convention was unprecedented in its size and that some official merchandise were not delivered in time for it to be held. She said that organisers had "taken into consideration all comments and suggestions" and would be meeting to figure out what went wrong, adding that a second announcement would be made on Monday evening.
