Breakfast Topic Things that Keep Us Gamer This Breakfast Topic has been brought to you by Seed, the Aol guest writer program that lets you submit your writing to WoW.com. I told two of my ex-gamers friends a couple of days ago that I couldn't go to the store after my softball game because I had to get home to play WoW. After all, it was our weekly raid night. One of my friends replied, "Why bother? Why play WoW? I used to play but gave up. It was all about the numbers. The other nodded in agreement, and the other just stood there. I was left wondering, "Why do I play WoW?" It's not that I don't have other things I want to do in my spare time. I have books to write and play sports, as well as friends and family to spend time with. My life was perfect without WoW and I am sure that life would be great in the event that Blizzard servers were to crash for ever (God forbid), thus making WoW impossible to play. So why do I even bother playing? First, I join to be part of the camaraderie. To me, our guild is like a group of people whom I've never had the pleasure of meeting, but I still love. Datchley is blogging I love being able to interact and work towards the same goal with a group of people from all over this country (and even Canada) who I wouldn't normally meet. Second, I started playing Dungeons and Dragons over three decades ago, long before the majority of my guildies were born. D&D is in my blood. WoW comes very close to replicating the D&D experience for me. Thirdly, it's about the numbers. I love working hard to focus so I can churn out the best DPS I can. I still feel a sense of satisfaction when we defeat an opponent and I top the DPS charts. That's the reason I play. Why do you play? Have you ever thought about becoming a write for WoW.com? You may have the chance to be a writer for WoW.com. Keep an eye out for our next call for submissions and sign up for Seed AOL's guest writer program that allows you to submit your writing to WoW.com. You might be the next writer to see on this website! Datchley is blogging
