WoW and FFXIV: Increased Raptr Playtime; ArcheAge Playtime "cratered" Another Raptr report for another month. Raptr.com published its November top-played PC games list yesterday. MMOs did well. The Warlords of Draenor expansion has seen World of Warcraft climb to the top spot on the list. The press release from Raptr states that "The MMO’s monthly play time increased 71% compared to October." And though WoW "likely" took its cues from League of Legends' numbers but it didn't quite take over the MOBA's top spot. ArcheAge playtime fell by 39.97 percent, however World of Tanks (and Final Fantasy XIV) had an increase in their playtime. Raptr states that Guild Wars 2 rose in rank, but it lost playing time in November over October. SWTOR dropped two spots since October. As with all of our roundups, Raptr roundups come with the caveat that they're based on Raptr users on PCs not all gamers. Certain MMO studios are also known to increase their Raptr numbers with in-game incentives. These games may not release information on their players therefore you could think of this as the next best indicator of the game's popularity, aside from a tour of the servers. [Source: Raptr press release, which we're including below] Most played PC Games: November 2014 --- Dragon Age and Call of Duty debut, World of Warcraft resurgent Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Dragon Age: Inquisition made their debuts on the Most Played List this month. World of Warcraft's most recent expansion has given the ten-year-old MMO an increase in play, while Spider Solitaire made a surprise return into the top 20 after a gap of more than a full year. The culprits know who they are. Highlights League of Legends remained in the top spot in November despite losing 15.88 percent of the time played compared to October. After LoL's Halloween sale it reached its peak at the middle of the month. Although the game's gameplay was stable for the majority of the month, there were a few delays due to the 4.20 update. World of Warcraft's Warlords of Draenor likely pulled time from LoL as well as other important games. The average monthly time spent playing the MMO was up 71.3 percent over the month of October. As expected, the expansion and games ten-year anniversary celebrations had a significant impact on daily play, which roughly doubled after the launch of the Draenor expansion, and remained steady until the November's end. The rest of the top five games were not as lucky. DOTA 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Smite saw an overall decrease in hours. my blog Smite beat ArcheAge for the fifth position. Although DOTA 2 and CS:GO both suffered double digits drops (12.49% and 11.59 percent, respectively), Smite was down less than 1. Archeage In contrast, it was cut by 39.97 percent, which is why Smite's small climb to the top of the list. The downward trend continued with Minecraft (-11.70%), Diablo III (down nearly 45% -We blame WoW), and Hearthstone (-13.11%, though we expect a rebound in December, thanks to Goblins against Gnomes). Chart newcomer Dragon Age, Inquisition, came in at tenth place despite a November release. World of Tanks saw a reduction in playing time, but it managed to gain 7.72% more play time than October. Although the WGLNA Gold League Qualifying Rounds took place throughout the month, the game was at its highest on Thanksgiving weekend due to XP multipliers, deals on premium products, and Thanksgiving weekend. Final Fantasy XIV increased in play time by 20.97%. This could be due to the launch of the Game of the Year edition, which offered 60 additional days of adventure (plus the previously released content) in the late months of October and early November. Mid-month DDOS attacks that caused login issues but did not have a significant impact on game play. Warframe and Guild Wars 2 each rose in popularity despite losing playtime in November, compared to October. Warframe hosted an Movember community event, which led to a Guinness World Record. Guild Wars 2's Tangled Path content has been released with new areas and items, skins, as well in other features. Call of Duty: Advance Warfare -- always a console juggernaut -- launched in early November, and based on the current trends, we may not see it in December's Most Played. Spider Solitaire was re-invented into Most Played for the first time since October 2013. It turns out that Thanksgiving is not just about turkey, football and fighting with family members - it's also about Solitaire. The 27th of November was the peak day for Solitaire gameplay. Note: The Share number by each game represents the game's gameplay time in percentage of the total time spent on all PC games played by Raptr members. It's useful in comparing the amount of time spent playing particular games.
