'Minecraft' Library Helps You Dodge News Media Censorship There are many ways to circumvent the censorship of the press but it's becoming more difficult when countries such as China and Russia are cracking down on VPNs and other similar tools. igralni Reporters Without Borders thinks it has the solution to these increasing challenges: make news accessible in a way that's not often blocked. The team has worked with BlockWorks and MediaMonks on the Uncensored Library, a Minecraft map that contains articles from journalists and sites that are often censored for its unflattering truths. You'll find articles from murdered Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi (whose fiancee Hatice Cengiz has endorsed the project) as well as the activist-friendly Russian site Grani.ru and the Egyptian anti-corruption website Mada Masr, among others. You can also find out more about the current state of press freedom in 180 countries. The library is a technical achievement in its own right. It resembles a giant neo-classical museum, with country-specific wings and huge collection of books. The library isn't able to be dismantled however, you can expand it if you have the time. Reporters Without Borders believes the Uncensored Library should be relatively resilient. Anyone can download the map, and Minecraft's nature makes it easy to host a second server in the event that an oppressive country attempts to shut it down. It's unlikely to last forever, however. Countries that already have strict restrictions on censorship aren't likely consider prohibiting Minecraft in whole-heartedly This could be a temporary relief. But that's not the point. It's also a commentary about censorship and a way for people to get involved in challenging topics. If it encourages some Minecraft players to speak out for press freedom or pursue investigative reporting as a career, it will have accomplished its goal. What’s the worst that could happen
