Zappi - Minecraft Minecraft has certainly gained a lot of attention in the last decade or since it was released in 2009/2010. it's become one of the most successful games ever in terms of sales and arguably in terms of its influence. However, I believe that the newer versions don't have the same atmosphere like the older versions (Beta 1.7.3 or older). Both are fantastic, I'm not going to say it. But, I believe they are two completely different beasts that can't be comparably. More modern Minecraft versions are more RPG-like to me, removing some of the loneliness the Alpha and Beta versions made you feel. The older versions don't come with the same amount of tasks, so you need to be creative to have fun. In the newer versions though, there seems (could be wrong though) to be a few set tasks that you have to do (like collect food for the constantly-decreasing hunger bar), so you'd usually always have something to do because the game's told you that you have to do it (if that makes any sense)! My Experience I play NSSS, ClassiCube, or AlphaPlace for the majority of the time. ClassiCube ClassiCube, an open-source reimagining Minecraft Classic 0.30, is available for modern-day use on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It's currently in beta. You'll be able to open the game in Singleplayer mode and you'll be able to view the 0.30-style map that includes 0.30 style menus and 0.30 style blocks (same textures, block behavior). This version 0.30 is updated for the latest operating systems (and without the need to use older versions of Java) and includes an entirely new level format, massively improved performance, and a new block style. The fun begins when you enter SMP mode (multiplayer). FREEZING A MOMENT Some servers are 0.30 nostalga servers. However, many servers use the latest Classic+Hax or Enhanced game modes. These modes offer many features that improve the quality of life such as flight noclip, custom blocks and flight.
