Minecraft And Screencastify Install Students will be able to log in to Minecraft: Education Edition using their AISD email address. (Students will find this information in the AISD Portal's User Profile menu.) After entering an AISD email, the student will be asked to type their student ID and password in an AISD Portal popup window. This will happen no matter the device that the student is using. Chromebooks for students should find the Google Play icon at the lower right corner of the screen. Only approved apps from a district are available for installation on the Google Play Store app. Click on the Minecraft Install button on Google Play. Instructions for Installing On Non-Austin ISD Windows Computers Click the purple Windows button to download Minecraft: Education Edition Windows Desktop Edition. You'll need to locate the downloaded file and open it. (It is likely to be open in a new tab at the bottom of the browser or within the Windows Downloads folder.) The Windows operating system will guide you through the installation process. Choose your language and agree to the End-User License Agreement. Continue to click Next until you are required to click the Install button. The installation can take a few minutes before you see a Finish button that will complete the installation. Instructions for Installing on Macintosh Computers. Click the purple MAC button to download Minecraft: Education Edition for Macintosh. You will need to locate the downloaded file, then open it. It should be located in the Downloads folder or in a new tab at the bottom. The Macintosh operating systems will guide you through the installation process. Select the language you prefer and agree to the End-User License Agreement. Continue clicking Next until you are required to click the Install button. The installation may take a while before you see a Finish button that will end the installation. mcprofile Instructions for installing iPads. iPads Students can access Minecraft on an Austin ISD student iPad once their teacher has installed the Minecraft: Education Edition app on a student's AISD iPad. Locate the app within the Creator Apps group on the iPad during school hours. Download Minecraft to your iPad from the iTunes Store. The application is available as a no-cost download. Click here to see the app in iTunes. Installing the Screencastify Screencastify Capture Extension A live demonstration of the learning can be a valuable method to demonstrate the concept. Screen-capturing video is a great way for teachers to present an online demonstration activity or for students to capture the digital product with their recorded voice that describes the product. Screencastify is an Chrome extension that was approved by Austin ISD. Students and staff can add the extension to their Chrome Web Store. Instructions for Students Installing Screencastify Austin ISD students have access to the Austin Independent School District Chrome Web Store from which any approved app can be downloaded. This is the only method to install a Chrome extension or Chrome app on an Austin ISD Chromebook. On the Chromebook, open the Chrome launcher, search and open the Chrome Web Store app. To view the approved apps list, click the Austin Independent School District link. Capture Your Video All students are able to make videos of up to 5 minutes long once the Screencastify extension has been installed. Before you begin recording, practice your group presentation. The presentation video should not exceed 2 minutes in length.
