I mentioned awhile ago in my main archive thread that eventually I’d post up a second thread for more detailed info on the sorta comic-y universe-y thing-y I’ve been developing characters for lately. So, with the lamest name for this superhero universe that I could think of, here is that thread! While this will mostly be bio and backstory info regarding the characters of “The Lucniverse”, I’ll occasionally be posting little short stories here (with or without accompanying pictures) that progress the various stories or simply flesh the world out more. Anywho… Starting off, naturally, with some of its most prominent heroes.

    The Arthurian
    Real name: Gwendolyn Pendragon
    Age: Immortal (Current age unknown)
    Sex: Female
    Alignment: Hero
    Affiliations: H.O.P.E., New Camelot
Powes/Skills: Super human strength and durability, flight, immortality (Does not age, can still be killed), and skill with a variety of melee weapons. Excalibur is the source of all her powers.
Weapon(s): The legendary blade Excalibur, a shape shifting weapon that most commonly takes the form of a large two pronged sword too heavy for any normal human to lift. In the hands of anyone other than a Pendragon, the blade does not grant any powers.

Gwendolyn Pendragon hails from an dimension parallel to our own where the kingdom of King Arthur remains in power even in the modern era, with Camelot (Now “New Camelot” after an invading force destroyed the original Camelot, forcing the capital to be rebuilt) as the world’s leading superpower. Though technology in New Camelot is quite close to the level of our own world’s, society has not moved much past the medieval era in some of its ideals, government, and traditions.

Eventually the people of New Camelot discovered interdimensional travel thanks to Merlin’s magic, and got their first glimpse into our world. Upon seeing this alternate dimension for the first time, King Arthur immediately requested that his descendants be rounded up to decide who would become the new owner of his legendary sword, Excalibur. After many trials testing their courage, strength, honor, and devotion, Gwendolyn was chosen as the weapon’s new wielder. Only moments after receiving the sword, Arthur instructed her to leave New Camelot and venture into the other world they had discovered, with one simple objective for her: Protect that world with her life. To this day, King Arthur refuses to explain the reasons for his orders, only insisting that it had to be done.

It was almost a century ago that Gwendolyn first traveled between worlds, a time when the idea of a super powered protector like herself was completely unheard of. She became the world’s first true superhero, eventually being given the name “The Arthurian” by the press after knowledge of her origins became public. As more and more super humans, costumed vigilantes, and diabolical villains began to appear all around the world, The Arthurian took up the responsibility of also founding the world’s first organized group of costumed superheroes, simply named the “Heroes Of Planet Earth”, or H.O.P.E. By this point, it was clear she had begun to consider our world her home more than New Camelot, and still remains one of its most prominent and powerful protectors.

Next up, The Lucniverse’s answer to Batman, sorta.

    Geek (The First)
    Real name: Garrett Chase
    Age: 28
    Sex: Male
    Alignment: Hero
    Affiliations: None
Powers/Skills: Skilled martial artist and freerunner, genius level intellect, talented hacker and inventor. Totally human with no powers, so all skills are simply natural talent.
Weapon(s): A variety of gadgets created from old electronics, his most iconic being a computer mouse filled with several small weights which he conceals in his sleeve to use as a whip, flail, and even grappling hook.

Despite his rather humble beginnings and skills compared to most other heroes, the vigilante known as Geek managed to become one of the world’s most well known and respected heroes, often seen fighting side by side with many members of H.O.P.E. in times of crisis, though not an official member of the group himself.

Through much of his life, Garrett Chase was exactly as his alias says: A geek. Garrett was the kind of guy who just avoided people completely, a loner who liked just spending his free time tinkering with any little electronics he could get his hands on and quite often turning them into remarkable feats of engineering, which would only be wasted as he never shared those wonderful inventions with anyone else due to his avoidance of social interaction. The only person he ever seemed willing to talk to was his younger brother, and when Garrett lost him, he gained his new life as “Geek”.

Garrett’s brother died in what the media claimed to be a terrorist attack by an unknown supervillain, and the shock of losing the only person he could talk to hit him hard. He swore a vendetta not just against the villain whose attack had killed his brother, but against any criminals who would ever dare to take another person’s life. In the years following the supposed terrorist attack, Garrett Chase seemed to disappear completely, devoting all his time to training and honing his body, as well as creating a vast arsenal of gadgets and tools to aid in his new pursuit of justice. The man who came back was no longer Garrett Chase, he was now and forever would simply be known as Geek.

However, six years ago Geek discovered a truth that shook him to his core. The villain whose attack caused his brother’s death did not exist. What killed his brother was the explosion of one of Garrett’s own inventions overheating and detonating. Not only was he the one truly responsible for his brother’s death, but also for any others that had been hurt or killed by the blast. For several months he abandoned his heroics and returned to his old life of seclusion, until he saw a chance at redemption in the form of the first attempted alien invasion of Earth (More on that later!). Taking down the mothership required what would surely be a suicide mission, and while many other heroes were willing to make the sacrifice, in the end it was Geek who gave his life to bring down the mothership and deliver the major blow that was needed to drive off the invading alien forces.

Of course if the first Geek is The Lucniverse’s answer to Batman, that would make this next one its answer to Robin.

    Geek (The Second)
    Real name: Penelope York
    Age: 22
    Sex: Female
    Alignment: Hero
    Affiliations: H.O.P.E.
Powers/Skills: Skilled martial artist and freerunner, genius level intellect, talented hacker and inventor. Unlike the original Geek, Penelope’s high intelligence comes from a small mutation that allows her brain to function on a much higher level than most human beings.
Weapon(s): A variety of gadgets created from old electronics, including an upgraded version of the original Geek’s signature weapon to allow for dozens of new functions and attack modes for the iconic mouse-whip.

Though the original lost his life in the first invasion of Earth, Geek was far from dead. His legacy lives on now in Penelope York. For a short time during the original Geek’s heroic career, he had been a mentor to a young girl with an inhumanly high level of intelligence due to an extremely rare mutation in her genetic code. He took young Penelope under his wing after rescuing her from a laboratory where a villain with a similar mutation had been performing several twisted experiments on her to see if he could boost his own intelligence even higher.

Following the original Geek’s heroic sacrifice, it inevitably fell to his former pupil Penelope to fill his shoes. As it turns out, there was no better person to take up the mantle, as the student quickly surpassed her master by vastly improving on Garrett’s inventions and techniques. She quickly earned her place as both one of the world’s most influential heroes, and as second in command within H.O.P.E. Unfortunately, the decision to make Penelope the group’s second in command has caused some minor conflict among the members of H.O.P.E., many of the older members believing she isn’t yet ready for such responsibility regardless of her talents and success as a hero and vigilante.

    Robert Stallion
    Real name: Robert Stallion
    Age: 48
    Sex: Male
    Alignment: Retired hero
    Affiliations: Stallion Industries, H.O.P.E.
Powers/Skills: Vast knowledge of robotics and cybernetics, and large political and economical influence
Weapon(s): A variety of tools and minor weaponry built into the cybernetic implants in his face, arm, and chest.

Stallion Industries is responsible for much of the world’s recent technological developments, as well as being responsible for arming and even creating some of its greatest heroes. And at the head of this technological powerhouse is none other than Robert Stallion, founder and CEO of Stallion Industries.

In his youth, Robert had been a hero by the name of “Warhorse”, fighting crime with the aid of his various cybernetic implants, robotic companions, and high tech suits of powered armour. Early on in his heroic career he joined up with H.O.P.E. and was put in charge of developing and maintaining the defense systems of the group’s base of operations. Over the years he saw less and less field work as a crimefighter, spending more and more time working with the various technologies that his fellow heroes relied on to do their jobs. Eventually he decided to retire from heroics altogether, and instead founded Stallion Industries to aid heroes and law enforcement with advanced technology to keep the world safe. Though no longer a hero, Robert still remains as an honorary member of H.O.P.E. and has been more than happy to provide the group with funding and resources from Stallion Industries.

    Horsepower
    Real name: Lydia Morris
    Age: 25
    Sex: Female
    Alignment: Hero
    Affiliations: H.O.P.E., Stallion Industries
Powers/Skills: Superhuman speed and reflexes due to cybernetic implants in her legs.
    Weapon(s): None.

Stallion Indsutries is known for more than just supplying heroes. It’s also known for creating them, and Lydia Morris is one of the most well known of them. She had once been just a simple intern working for Stallion Industries, and tragedy struck when one of the company’s robotic production lines malfunctioned and dropped several tons of machinery onto Lydia’s legs, permanently crippling her from the waist down… While Stallion Industries could easily repair her legs with cybernetics, she didn’t have nearly enough money to afford such an operation.

And that’s when Robert Stallion stepped in, kindly offering to pay for Lydia’s operation from his own pocket… On the condition that she used the enhanced speed from her cybernetics to join the ranks of H.O.P.E. as the world’s first corporate sponsored superhero. Not wanting to pass on her chance to be able to walk again, Lydia gladly accepted the condition, and became the hero now known as Horsepower, the fastest thing on Earth… Representing both justice, and the power of Stallion Industries’ technology.

    Armstrong
    Real name: Tyrone Armstrong
    Age: 31
    Sex: Male
    Alignment: Hero
    Affiliations: H.O.P.E., Stallion Industries
Powers/Skills: Minor super strength enhanced by the Exo-arms, world class boxer, and extremely durable body
Weapon(s): The Exo-arms backpack, a pair of massive mechanical arms strapped to his back that enhances his strength to absurd levels.

Following the success of Horsepower, Robert Stallion saw an opportunity to do a lot of good for the world by offering similar deals to select few individuals to become powerful forces for good. Around this same time, he had also begun to become quite a fan of professional boxing… Which is where he came across Tyrone Armstrong.

Tyrone was a reigning heavyweight champion who seemed undefeatable… As it turned out, he really was undefeatable, as he’d been born with some mutations that gave him above average strength, but also an almost indestructible body. He’d kept these powers a secret as they began to bloom during his boxing career to keep himself from being disqualified from any and all matches due to his powers. Though his powers did inevitably lead to the end of his career as a professional boxer, it was not in the way he expected… Robert Stallion caught onto Tyrone’s secret not long after meeting him in person for the first time, and instantly saw his potential as Stallion Industries’ next corporate superhero. When the offer of becoming a hero using Stallion technology came up, Tyrone saw some potential as well. The potential to face opponents who would actually provide a challenge in a fight. Another deal was struck, and another mighty hero of H.O.P.E. was born. Though the truth about Tyrone’s use of superpowers during his boxing career caused some controversy at first, his effectiveness at stomping out crime along side the other members of H.O.P.E. quickly won back the public’s admiration.

And now, time for a couple villains!

    The Black Knight
Real name: Unknown (Forgotten through history)
Age: Immortal (Current age unknown, assumed several centuries old)
    Sex: Male
    Alignment: Villain
    Affiliations: None
    Nemesis: The Arthurian
Powers/Skills: Superhuman strength and durability, capable of summoning demonic spirits, skilled swordsman and brilliant tactician.
Weapon(s): A ceremonial sword stolen from the former ruler of New Camelot’s underworld, rarely used as an actual weapon as the Black Knight typically fights with his bare hands.

In the world of New Camelot, many men have held the title of “The Black Knight” throughout history, though none have been more feared than the current Black Knight. He had once served as a respected knight of the round table, but was banished to their world’s hell after some form of betrayal against King Arthur, and his true identity was lost to history…

However, many centuries after his banishment, he stepped into the mortal realm once more, transformed now into a vengeful hell spawn. The Black Knight claimed to have fought his way back from the underworld and finally became free after overthrowing and slaying its demonic ruler to claim the underworld as his own kingdom. None believed him, until he brandished the sword stolen from the former lord of hell. Over time he became Camelot’s new greatest enemy, at one point even managing to level the original Camelot with his demonic armies and force the city to rebuild as New Camelot. However, every time he attempted to fully destroy Arthur’s kingdom, the sword Excalibur constantly stood in his way…

When the legendary blade was handed to Gwendolyn and she was sent off to another world, the Black Knight soon saw his chance to crush New Camelot for good, and began another full scale attack on the rebuilt capital. However his efforts were thwarted once more as Gwendolyn simply returned to her own world to drive him off just as Arthur once did. Seeing that even from another world Excalibur could still get in his way, he instead hatched a new plan… He would follow Gwendolyn back to our world where she would no longer have New Camelot’s army backing her, and attempt to either eliminate her and steal Excalibur so that no one would be able to use it and stop him from destroying New Camelot and having his revenge on Arthur for his banishment…

After being in our world for so long however, the Black Knight’s goals have begun to shift from simply destroying New Camelot, to turning both worlds into part of his own demonic empire…

    Bighead
    Real name: Ollie Bryan
    Age: 26
    Sex: Male
    Alignment: Villain
    Affiliations: The Cheaters
Nemesis: Geek (Both the first and second)
Powers/Skills: Powerful telepath capable of seeing people’s darkest secrets and turning them into elaborate illusions and hallucinations. However, his psychic powers are heavily dampened by his massive headgear.
    Weapon(s): None

Though the villain known as Bighead is hardly a direct threat to anyone, many fear him for what his powers can do… Especially after what they did to Garrett Chase, the original Geek.

Ollie Bryan’s birth was one surrounded by tragedy, as a child with no control over his psychic powers he constantly and unintentionally forced his traumatic illusions and hallucinations on those around him, and watched as everyone he knew was ruined one by one by the things he’d shown them. For most of his childhood he had to be locked away where he was unable to make contact with any other people… Until he eventually met one who seemed unaffected by the nature of his hallucinations. It was on his 18th birthday when he was visited by a mysterious figure claiming to be “the greatest mind the world has ever seen”, and from this man Ollie received the power dampening headgear he now wears constantly.

The years of isolation as a child had unfortunately driven Ollie mad however, and a turn to crime and villainy quickly followed his acquiring of his helmet. The restraints dampened his powers to the point that he could control them, able to show the hallucinations to specific people rather than everyone around him. At first he targeted people involved with putting him into isolation, using his powers to drive them mad or push them into suicide… and then this power began to go to his big head. He began to lose sight of his goals, starting to use and manipulate his abilities for his own personal gain along with revenge, attempting to build himself a better life to make up for his lost childhood. As Bighead’s number of crimes grew, he quickly caught the attention of the vigilante known as Geek.

Shortly after his first encounter with the vigilante lead to his arrest and imprisonment, he was broken free from jail by a group of villains calling themselves “The Cheaters”, all of whom had quite bitter rivalries with Geek and saw the potential for Bighead to finally eliminate the thorn in all their sides. It turns out they had been right, as over the course of several more encounters with the vigilante, Bighead gradually revealed to Geek the truth behind his brother’s death, and that revelation is what lead to the vigilante’s final sacrifice.

And now with Geek’s legacy passed on to Penelope York, Bighead’s rivalry with the vigilante continues on… Both of them unaware of the one thing that truly connects them both.

    Chernobyl
    Real name: Misty Sanford
    Age: 25
    Sex: Female
    Alignment: Villain
    Affiliations: The Mistakes
    Nemesis: Robert Stallion
Powers/Skills: Highly radioactive body, able to fire condensed blasts of radiation and cause objects to explode at will.
    Weapon(s): None.

While Stallion Industries is known for creating many heroes, it’s also known for being the birthplace of “The Mistakes”, a group of extremely dangerous and extremely destructive villains whose origins all involve horrible accidents and failed experiments within Stallion Industries. Though The Mistakes lack any real group structure beyond simply acknowledging each other as allies, most seem to regard Chernobyl as the closest thing they have to an actual leader.

For a short time, Stallion Industries had been supplying energy to several cities all around the world using special high tech nuclear power plants that they believed would be much safer and cleaner than traditional nuclear power. However, after a catastrophic meltdown of one such power plant, the company was forced to shut down all other functioning power plants and abandon all further research on them. At the centre of this disaster, was Misty Sanford. What exactly happened in that reactor and why a simple high school dropout like Misty was even there in the first place remained a mystery, but when the dust cleared, the girl standing at the very middle of it all could hardly be called human anymore…

She emerged from the disaster as the highly dangerous “Chernobyl”, with an intense hatred for Stallion Industries after the meltdown turned her into essentially a walking atom bomb. Soon she had gained quite a bit of notoriety after destroying several Stallion factories and warehouses, and the growing infamy eventually caught the attention of several others whose lives had been changed forever for the worse by Stallion Industries, and together formed The Mistakes.

Lately however, Chernobyl has been causing a bit of a panic as her powers have been growing more and more unstable, and many people are growing concerned that she could literally become a walking atom bomb, ready to explode and annihilate everything and everyone around her… Something which has also caught the attention of many more diabolical villains, who may see her now as a potential weapon…

    Monster Truck
    Real name: Matthew Briggs
    Age: 31
    Sex: Male
    Alignment: Villain
    Affiliations: The Mistakes
    Nemesis: Horsepower
Powers/Skills: Extremely heavy and durable, above human (But not quite super) strength and speed, can use exhaust fumes to blind or poison his enemies, and a skilled engineer.
Weapon(s): The C-armour suit he’s trapped in, which is the source of all powers listed above.

Much like his rival Horsepower, Briggs had once been an employee for Stallion Industries who gained extraordinary powers from the company’s advanced technology after a horrible accident. Unlike Horsepower however, his accident lead to a life of crime rather than a life of fighting crime.

He had been employed as Stallion’s top automotive engineer, revolutionizing the transportation industry with his work. The next on his list of innovations was supposed to be a type of hover car making use of special magnetic fields to get airborne. The first test run of this prototype vehicle… Proved to be a disaster, as the magnetic fields reversed and began drawing everything in the lab towards him, sealing him inside a massive shell of technology, car parts and machines creating a second mechanical body around his own.

Though attempts to remove the machinery have all proven unsuccessful, over time Matthew has been able to modify the shell to be a quite functional powered exoskeleton he’s dubbed the “C-armour”… However, even with these modifications the accident had thoroughly ruined his life, losing both his job and his wife due to the difficulties of being trapped within the suit… He grew bitter from his losses and began to take out his anger on society, using the C-armour to cause massive destruction as the villainous “Monster Truck”. Eventually he met several others with similar pasts and hatreds for Stallion Industries and society in general, with whom he helped form The Mistakes.

    Jurassic
    Real name: Dr. Landon Cash
    Age: 42
    Sex: Male
    Alignment: Villain
    Affiliations: The Mistakes
    Nemesis: Armstrong
Powers/Skills: Nearly indestructible and unmovable, though not particularly strong he makes up for it with sheer ferocity.
    Weapon(s): None.

Doctor Landon Cash was originally set to be in charge of a new genetics lab funded completely by Stallion Industries, a research facility that many believed would quickly revolutionize the world of genetics. Especially after rumors leaked about the lab’s first major project… An attempt to use small traces of prehistoric DNA to clone and repopulate species that had been extinct for millions of years. Something many others had attempted before them, but it seemed Dr. Cash had finally succeeded where they had failed.

Just when it seemed like a lifetime of fame and fortune for his research was headed his way, Dr. Cash made a fatal mistake… The final step of his experiment was to simply inject a special mixture of the prehistoric DNA and special chemicals together into an artificial egg that would eventually hatch into a genuine, living dinosaur. The excitement unfortunately proved too much for the doctor, his hands shaking in anticipation of how the world would soon be praising him like a god… One slip of his shaking hand, and the needle pierced his skin instead of the egg.

What happened next is something many scientists claim would have been an even larger scientific breakthrough, if not for the disastrous consequences. The specially treated DNA fused with Landon’s own genetic code, completely mutating him… His body almost tripled in size, his skin turned hard and rough, and his mind and appearance became more and more monstrous. He was now half man, and half dinosaur. His humanity lost out to pure feral instincts as he became a rampaging animal, destroying everything in his path.

Though he holds no grudge against Stallion Industries, instead simply being a force of blind rage and destruction, Jurassic joined up with The Mistakes after the equally massive Monster Truck was able to stand toe to toe with the beast in a brawl, earning the former doctor’s respect and loyalty to The Mistakes.

    Grid
    Real name: Teri Stallion
    Age: 22
    Sex: Female
    Alignment: Hero
    Affiliations: Stallion Industries, H.O.P.E.
Powers/Skills: World’s most powerful technopath, able to communicate and control any machines as well as access the internet within her mind or even cast her consciousness into cyberspace.
Weapon(s): A special multi-tool built onto the right arm of her armour and linked to the cybernetics in her brain with countless functions.

As the only child of technology tycoon Robert Stallion, Teri became one of the most powerful heroes to be created by her father’s company, as well as the most powerful technopath the world had ever seen.

At a very young age, Teri showed signs of an impressive knack for working with anything electronic, and soon it was discovered that she had been born with an odd mutation allowing her to seemingly speak with any machines she touched. While her abilities were quite mild at first and not good for much more than making small talk with her DvD player, her father saw great potential and believed with a little boost from their company she could be capable of great things.

Once Teri started growing into her teens, Robert started work on a top secret experiment, a special cybernetic implant made specially for Teri and her budding powers. By the time her 16th birthday came, it was ready… A special device that would be implanted into her brain that could boost her technopathic abilities to unimaginable levels. However, Teri was completely opposed to the idea… Until a mysterious villain kidnapped her a year later, and a hero wielding technology made by her father’s company saved her life. As soon as she returned home from the ordeal, she finally opted to have the device planted into her brain and with it became the heroine known simply as Grid, able to make any and all machines bend to her will…
