The Future of Character Design Challenges

Due to diminished interest in the CDCs, they will no longer run on a weekly basis. Instead, upcoming CDCs will run every two weeks. The next CDC will be announced on March 25. If the entries increase in number, I am more than willing to go back to the weekly schedule.

Thanks,

I hope you don’t close down your site. It means a lot to several people, myself included.

i hope more people get involved, it is a great creative outlet for a lot of us and I know it has been a hard transition with the end of FLASH player to figure out a way to keep the content coming. I have been working on characters using Heromachine on and off since 2006 and it truly is awesome to see how much talent and creativity this site has help flourish.

I honestly think the cause of diminished interest is the contest themselves. Heromachine allows for so much creativity and yet the most recent set of contests had some strict requirements for the character that might of limited design and interest. So maybe hold off on these team-building ones or at least make it so each character in the team only has a few specific characteristics. I just saying, this site is really creative so make the contest power that creativity,

I offer an alternative challenge in response to Rekulhs’ suggestion. I hosted “Tell My Story” on the HeroMachine forum. Participants would post their HM character and a name. No background, no powers, and I would write an origin or vignette.

I stopped because of recurring health issues. After a way too long hiatus, and much needed jolt, I am ready to be an active Machiner again. One week, a challenge based on criteria. The next, a free-for-all.

Mods, please e-mail me with thoughts or whether this is feasible.
