CDC #364 – Team Building – Part 3

The premise of this contest is that over the next number of weeks we will build a team of superheroes and a team of villains. Each week I will supply you with a role, name, or list of powers of one of the team members and you will use HM3 to create the character. The winner each week will win a version of their character created on HM by yours truly.

Your challenge this week is to create the archer character on the hero squad. She is a former Olympic gold medalist in archery with a background and education in forensic science. She spent her post Olympic years working at the Dallas morgue where she saw the devastation that crime was causing in her home town. Hunting with her father as a young girl taught her to track almost anyone or anything. She is Ages’ right hand.

Please follow the instructions below regarding the naming of entries.

  1. Dena Wolf is Texan of multi-ethnic heritage. Her father, Michael Grey Wolf was an ex-Green Beret who worked for the National Park service as an investigator. He imbued his daughter with his love of hunting, archery, tracking, investigation and protecting his people and culture, which given his ethnic background included Native Americans, Anglos, Hispanics and African Americans, in short the whole of American society.

She followed in her father’s footsteps, and exceeded them, becoming an Olympic Gold Medal-winning archer, a forensic scientist and investigator. When her father was killed to prevent him from revealing a multi-million dollar conspiracy to loot artifacts and mineral resources, she became convinced that the only way to get him justice in the face of corruption was to become directly involved.

Family stories indicate that ancestors on both the Anglo and Native American sides of her family used the name “Golden Arrow” in decades past¹, and so she adopted the name in homage. And so was born the modern day Golden Arrow.

Note 1: The name “Golden Arrow” was used in two public domain Golden Age instances: Chief Golden Arrow from Farrell, and Fawcett’s Golden Arrow stories in Whiz Comics #2, 7-60, and 4 other comics.

Here’s my entry! On a quick note, I know I won a CDC way back about Elves. I just want to thank everyone who had nice comments on it. This is my first time back here because I was in a bad car accident and have been healing since March. I just didn’t want to seem rude for ignoring the win.

    Anyway…

This is Valorie Bowen, AKA, Valkyrie. She being gifted in archery and precision, along with being an incredible potential idol for the human race with her being a prime example of what it takes to be good human being with her drive to save the human race, was gifted with a mythical weapon. The Bow of Light is only able to be wielded by those who are worthy. As along as you are worthy and have the “light” within you, you are able to summon the Bow’s magical armor and its infinite arrows of light. It is strongest against those who have the most darkness within them and is strengthened by one’s inner “light”. The armor can withstand the most damaging of blows and can be healed/brought back to its glory by the Sun’s light. You must always believe in your cause and most importantly, yourself to be a Valkyrie and wield the Bow of Light and wear The Sunbreaker’s Armor. Valorie’s exceptional skills in forensics give her the ability to aid her team in finding justice. While deadly, even with a makeshift bow alone, Valkyrie does not kill unless there is no other way in preserving the light within the human soul, even if it is just spec worth saving.
