Character Design Challenge #325 – RPG Character Classes: Round 3 – Rogues

Time for Round 3! Your CDC is to create a member of the Rogue Class. This is the group that includes thieves, assassins, and ninjas among others.

Once again, a brief written description of the world of your RPG is an entry requirement.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. Please keep all submissions PG13. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warning. Only post characters that have been created solely using Hero Machine, and that you know for certain have never been entered in a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

All entries must be in JPG or PNG form (BMPs are too big), posted to a publicly accessible website (like the HeroMachine :,ImageShackPhotoBucket, or whatever);

  • Entries must be made as a comment or comments to this post, containing a link directly to the image and the character name;
  • Please name your filesas [your name]-[character name].[file extension] before you upload it. So DiCicatriz, for instance, would save his “Bayou Belle” character image as DiCicatriz-BayouBelle.png.

Please make the link go directly to the image (like this) and not to a hosting jump page (like this).

This contest will close on Sunday, June 11th at 9:00am Eastern.

    Hmm. I guess I could enter Agent Magpie.

    In a world threatened by an evil empress and her elite group of lady knights, Magpie is one of the leaders of a rebellion.

    Due to what was probably a failed hanging, Magpie’s throat was badly injured and left her voice a croaking rasp. She doesn’t talk much, but she does organize sabotage, assassinations and just generally the kind of necessary dirty work that most rebels don’t want to think about. She runs a tight ship, though, and does not tolerate needless thuggery.

  2. Rekulhs Nathe says:

    Tark Isa
    In the far distance future the world is devastated by an event that causes the world to become completely frozen in ice and snow, humans flee to space and the earth is left to freeze. Yet arctic animals thrive in this new environment slowly evolving and soon create their own civilizations the two most powerful species are the polar bears and the penguins. Soon though a polar bear dominated nation declares war on a penguin dominated nation. Due to the polar bears military power they begin crushing the penguins. The king and queen of the nation flee with their egg, but are killed by a commander polar bear though the egg is saved by a husky who raises the penguin as his own this Husky is Tark Isa after telling his adopted son the truth they set off to free the nation and start a resistance against the polar bears.

    Question: Does it have to be fantasy, or rogue-ish characters from other genres are allowed?

  6. rossoftheyear says:

    Matthew is a fun loving half-elf thief who recently came across a dagger that has begun to speak to him in his dreams

  7. rossoftheyear says:

    Bloodweb, the dark elf assassin nemesis of my previous Warrior entry: Sartoris. He killed Sartoris’s mother in front of him, and is currently thought to be in hiding somewhere underground.

  8. Wolf Master says:

    Two hundred years after the Elysian wars which left the elven races decimated, mankind continues to conquer ever dwindling elven territory. The Dark Elf hunters are tasked with protecting the illusive Dark Elves from mankind.

  9. Herr D says:

    “Tonight the part of Short Round will be played by a stocky Chippewa in a nun’s habit.”–said our GM on realizing this character’s intent.

    This is Mr. Strait in a situation I played him in. It was a modified Deadlands system with custom characters. (Deadlands is essentially a western with undead, magic, supercoal, and steampunk.)

    Mr. Strait has the weaknesses of facial disfiguration, having been attacked by a ghoulie covered with flaming turpentine, and needing more food than most by 50%. He is also wanted for deserting both the Union and the Confederacy. His advantages include Sense Object / Machine Weaknesses (+12) and stealing (Pickpocket, Sleight Of Hand, Misdirect, Conceal Obj / Self, AND Timing at +6) for use Mad Scientist Plans. He uses horseshoes a lot with his tendency to Unintended Use (+8,) including as prybars, makeshift armor, ranged and melee weapons. His experience points were mostly used to upgrade his stats, as you might guess. STR11INT18WIS14CHA7CON16WIL17AGL19DEX16STEA20RXN19
