Open Critique Day #22

*Note: I've been really busy recently, so I will not be able to give critiques. OCD isn't going down, though, but you guys just won't see much of me in the comments. I'll probably be appearing more after April 24th.*

As for how this goes, you post a work of yours, finished or WIP (aka work in process, for those who are new to abbreviations), and then others give you critiques on your work.  I do not mind if you post the occasional non-HM picture or piece of writing. Just make sure that you only post pictures that are your own design and not any that copyrighted or based off of copyrighted characters.

Also, if you post a work, it is highly recommended that you also give someone else a critique.

I’ve already posted this picture on a previous OCD, but I’m just stumped as to how to proceed. So far, it’s just an anatomical outline, and I’m going to use by putting it underneath another sheet of paper, using it as a reference to guide the next draft, as per my usual process. What I just can’t figure out it how to clothe her. I’m trying to come up with a design which is skimpy, but at the same time tasteful, rather than being “slutty.” I also want her attire to have enough details to be “fancy,” without having so many things in it that it could interfere with combat movements (she mostly uses magic for defense, so armor isn’t necessary for her).

And, for Dreadyacht, the creature your picture depicts is of a nice design. It’s simple, so it could work very well for a creature which might be fought in the stereotypical “random encounter” in a video game. As for how you could improve the design: I’m not sure exactly what you were going for with the mechanical aspects, but I’d suggest that, as long as you’re including them, you should probably include more of them, since right now they look somewhat out-of-place.

@ Jade – I went with a tank top and the pleated skirt (bottom row page 3) on a standard pose, and compared the 2 figures. I think they went well, but do try other things too.

Did a quick illo for jade (it’s down and dirty, but it may show a point.)

@ Keric: Thanks for the illustrations, but I don’t think that would quite work… You may have noticed that she’s of a marsupial race (you may have mistaken the pouch for ab contours, which wouldn’t be the first time someone’s made that mistake), and given that this race is mechanically defined in a PnPRPG I’m designing, maintaining access to the pouch allows for what is basically a built-in utility belt. I suppose it might help, for your reference, to see a previous version of this character, to see how I previously clothed her:

That’s really more the look I was going for, but… I dunno. I think it’s a bit too “plain,” especially since her race is basically a quintessential “bard” race, given that they really love things of beauty.
