This weeks challenge does exactly what it says on the tin. You have to create an insect themed superhero or super villain. So we're talking insect inspired powers and costumes. I'm sure you don't need me to give any examples. I know at least one person is going to be very happy with this weeks challenge.
As per usual, no limits on entries this week and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). The winner gets to claim a custom made item from dblade to be put into heromachine, so long as the item conforms to his prize rules, which you can find here: http://www.heromachine.com/forum/the-heromachine-art-gallery/dblades-whiz-bang-item-dispenser/. Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

Also, can you clarify a rule for me? Specifically the rule about entering characters that have been entered in previous competitions. Does that apply if it’s a new version of a character that’s been used before? I mean I know I’ve used my Dragonfly character in a contest a long time ago but I’ve redesigned him several times since. Would he be eligible to enter this contest if it’s a new image of the same character?
In the meantime, I’m going to enter a couple of other characters. I know spiders aren’t technically insects (arachnids) but you said they were allowed so….

@Anarchangel- How did you guess 😉 As for the rule query, I think it’s ok just as long as it’s not the version entered into a previous contest. The picture can’t have been entered, the character is fair game as long as it’s noticeably different to the version entered previously.
Here’s my first entry, the mad villain Wasp. He and his brother got caught in the crossfire of a radioactive blast and it activated their powers completely. While most people’s powers grow over time, like a dimmer switch, the two of them had the switch thrown completely on. The pain of his skin hardening into plates and wings bursting from his back drove Wasp mad.

@Ali Raza- You’re correct nudity is not permitted. You’re welcome to try to make your characters “hot and sexy” but keep in mind nothing too suggestive or overly sexualised.

Following the events of the Plague story arc, Lucifer claimed Lena Black’s soul and turned her empty shell into the new Horseman of Pestillence. With the help of a demon named Fire, Lena’s soul escaped from Hell and returned to Earth where she took a new form and a new name: Hourglass.
As Hourglass, Lena has discovered that she has the ability to summon and control any demon that would be eligible for this contest. She uses this power to help people, but don’t make her angry because she just might go poltergeist and slaughter everyone she lays eyes on.
After a friendly challenge from Anarcangle on my DA page I decided to do another entry and take it up a notch. But there is no way I will be able to come up with as many concepts as him, that guy is obsessed with bugs.

Widow…as the name suggests…her husband… or should I say husbands die…tragic deaths…leaving this cruel world, leaving her lonely, in her gloomy cave…
Men are attracted to her by her fragrant poison, which can be sensed by men by over a mile, while a woman’s physiology will not even smell it from a few yards…
Men that arrive at her cave are tested by her.
If she disliked them, they would be devoured.
and if she approves a man, which is not very likely, she will mate with him, and bear his children…
But, that is not all, the chosen man shall stay in the cave till the eggs hatch, and then shall feed the children, feed them his own limbs, skin, eyes…in short, everything… leaving only a skeleton which becomes a playground for the little spiders…
Because of the remoteness of the cave, very few men ever arrive, and only a few animals are hardly available near the cave, to deal with this situation, the Widow enjoys a meal involving her own children…

Andrew is a government agent. He also happens to be
gay. Which he gets some good natured razzing about it
from some of the straight Agents.
The Agency equipped him with a ear

On a mission the shield saved his butt.
His friends razzed him about hiding behind a shield
calling him “Lady”
when he saw the bullet scratches on the shield he
decided to accept the razzing and use it right back, and
painted over the bullet hits with black and called himself

Doug Betters was a little guy in a poor neighborhood. His name might have been named Betters, but he wasn’t. Everyone ignored him or put him down.
He never felt good about himself, had a massive case of low self-esteme.
Then one day he found a gold scarab.
Suddenly he grew 2 1/2 feet and put on massive amounts of muscle growing incredible strong and resiliant.
Sadly his mental accuity didn’t grow as well. Instead of calling himself The Golden Scarab or something like it. He became the Dung Beetle.
